STREAMING VIDEO: Despite being a market where broadcasters are making great strides in moving to a streaming model, and with TV manufacturers such as SAMSUNG reporting that a high percentage of TVs sold in Australia are never connected to an antenna, Australian consumers wanting to migrate fully to IP still face some restrictions. Even whilst Hubbl's current marketing is promoting TV without cumbersome coax cables, those attempting to watch free TV in Australia without a digtal terrestrial antenna or satellite TV service may find their sports viewing options are somewhat limited. Anyone trying to watch AFL games on Channel 7 via IP, be that via a PC browser, via the 7Plus app on smart TVs, streaming devices or a Hubbl that's not connected to DTT are greeted instead with repeats of Border Patrol with this scrolling message: 'Sorry! We don't currently have the rights to stream the AFL on 7plus. To watch the game, tune in on broadcast via your aerial, or find more of your favourite shows on 7plus. Stay tuned - the AFL rights are coming, live and free, from season 2025'. LG Celebrates 10 years of WebOS with TV OS Wars in Spotlight- LG is announcing its “LG Streaming Week” promotion, offering free trials and discount pricing for streaming services to owners of LG TVs with WebOS. WebOS has had quite a journey on its way to becoming a contender in the TV OS wars, having began as a mobile operating system designed by Palm, before being taken over by HP, then sold to LG after the failure of HP’s entry into the mobile phone and tablet spaces. That investment by LG has paid off, as WebOS now powers its smartTVs, which have exploded in popularity since the early 2010s. Smart features are now standard on all TVs, and the providers of their operating systems benefit from ad real estate and data opportunities within. LG is taking full advantage of this, while other TV manufacturers that didn’t have a smartTV OS of their own have had to strike licensing deals with Google or other, reaping fewer of the benefits. Who will bring this same TV OS logic to the needs of the hundreds of millions of Commercial dedicated households in the Multi-Dwelling, Community, Campus Living, HOA/COA, Hospitality, Healthcare, etc doors? I believe this is first of a kind research into the subscriptions habits of Europeans. From a global perspective, Europe subscription adoption lags slightly behind North and South America. But the market is moving quickly and with both the Euro soccer championship and the Olympics in Europe this year, we expect to see a surge in the take-up of sports content. Unsurprisingly, the Brits spend more on their subscriptions than other European consumers!

If you are watching in countries like the UK 🇬🇧 you might find your coverage is a little bit more limited than usual. Warner Bros. Discovery+ have the full multi-screen coverage, and this is a pattern around the world - part paid, part free-to-air. In the US Peacock have the coverage.
