Sales Interview Pro Tip: It's the little things that matter. Those little things add up over time. Good and bad (ask me how I know)... Little things you should do if you want an interview/job: - Reach out before interviews with a quick message to say you're excited to learn more about the role - Connect on LinkedIn (if you haven't already) - Send thank you and follow up notes within 24 hours And here's a new one... - Accept the calendar invite if you're sent one What % of candidates do you think I talk to that don't do any of the above? The number would astonish you. And that's not to say that every candidate who doesn't follow up is bad. But it's not a great look. Treat interviewing like a sales cycle. Be honest with why you need experience for your SDR/BDR role? You could be saving yourself huge amounts of money for the same results by going with an entry level hire. Legit reasons for needing experience - Complex sell with a tough buyer profile (CISO, CTO, CRO etc) - You don't have an outbound process or manager who can train. Non legit reasons - You're too lazy to train - You think hiring with experience improves your retention (it's the opposite) Analyse your SDR culture, could you be going with no experience?? #sdrjobs #sdrteam #salesjobs

There is NO ATS/CRM that is going to get your best salespeople excited about putting their data into it. It's just a fact. Whether you use Salesforce, Bullhorn, Loxo, Tracker, Crelate, Zoho, some other tool. Your salespeople likely HATE it. Not because they don't see some advantages to using it. But because they find having to do data entry boring and annoying. Know why? Because they're not data entry people. They are customer relationship people. Good sales managers realize something. This is a fine line to walk. You do your best to get your best salespeople to put as much info in the system as possible. But you stop there and stop pushing. Because if you don't. There may come a point where your top salespeople sell less because they don't want to have to put more info in the system. Seems ridiculous? Agreed. Ridiculous that any organization would do something that would make their top salespeople want to sell less... #RaiseTheRoose

What’s the number 1 thing Sales Leaders Look for in candidates? From my conversations – it isn’t the typical “resilent, hard working” comments Its curiosity. Curiosity shines when you ask questions about stuff you don’t know internally or externally to clients. Going above and beyond to ask that 1 more question to clients/candidates or colleagues.

The most common one I hear is: "I want someone who is DRIVEN" Although every hiring manager's interpretation is different(to some degree obviously), consider asking this question to uncover a candidate's DRIVE and its alignment with your company: "What motivates you as a salesperson?" This straightforward question can provide insights into the following: 1️⃣ Alignment with Company Values: Evaluate whether their motivations align with your organization's core values and objectives. A salesperson motivated by your company's mission is more likely to thrive and contribute meaningfully. 2️⃣ Performance Boost: Understanding a candidate's motivation enables you to tailor your management approach. Here’s something that’s seriously boosted my closing game. Try using a feature or benefit in your customer’s own words. Nothing beats hearing from someone who’s already loving what you offer. When you drop a direct quote from a happy customer, it just hits different. It’s not you hyping up your product, it’s someone who’s actually used it and seen the results. People love knowing that someone just like them had a great experience. When you share how another customer benefited, it’s easy for your prospect to imagine the same success. Coming from the D2D space I know trust is huge in sales. Quoting a real customer builds that trust right away. It shows your prospect they’re not taking a gamble—they’re making a smart move. So, next time you’re closing a deal, try saying something like, "One of our customers mentioned how [feature] helped them achieve [benefit]." Let your customer’s words do the heavy lifting. I think sales leaderboards are genius for so many reasons. But I also don’t want to get hung up on the numbers. I think it’s easy to feel the urgency to up your numbers. But I feel like that’s how you get commission breath. I think about this a lot. And I just gotta trust that the urgency should be on the activities and not the numbers. The numbers are just a result of the activities. If I continue to: -Connect with more people through outreach -Ask inquisitive and purposeful questions -Seek to understand the person -Prioritize the relationship -Provide great service I see no other option but to believe that if I continue to do all of those things… ...everything will take care of itself. And I feel like this is true for everything and for every goal. Winners and losers have the same goals. It’s their habits and actions that differentiate them. It’s mastering the basics.
