I find there is so much talk about INTELLIGENCE and so little talk about WISDOM. Even REID AI is just another way to show off how smart us apes are but wow we are still so dumb. The BIGGEST dilemma we are facing and will continue to face is “IF WE CAN, SHOULD WE?” This is where wisdom is going to prevail, but sadly when we are motivated by a golden calf and “wen lambo” we will always choose “of course we should” if it makes us money now. Our entire system we currently operate on is about how to 10x for investment returns. Everything is built on future projections. But the flip side of it all is that maybe we are just doing exactly what we are supposed to do. Maybe we are just rats in a maze goaded by cheese. All this time we have thought we were the maze makers when in fact the illusion is greater than the reality…and we will continue to follow our programming. So if this is, as Mando (or any Taoist) would say, The Way then perhaps we just need to make sure it’s as comfortable for as many as we can make it. Maybe that’s the game…we are programmed to individually win but that is the first level of the game. When you get stuck there you lose, as you end up losing the game for everyone. Right now we have a lot of losers who are running things. And in this scenario with new technologies coming down the pike they most likely will take on the personalities of their “parents”…but as any parent knows the child will always revolt against their progenitor. Only to later forgive them while evolving into the best of both. This is The Way. Anyway, more fun conversations like this at 2:15 CST at C2E2!!! "Is it still a good time to be human?" This is the big question Lee Bofkin considered last week in this article for The Drum (linked in the comments) With AI advancing every day, it's a fair ask–but as someone working at the intersection of AI innovation, investing, and the creative arts, I'd argue it's actually better than a good time… In fact, it might be the most exciting time to be human ever.  (Also because there has never been a time in human history where living has been as easy, comfortable, safe and rewarding for humans on average, as today) But here's why I say that - and in oppposition to the AI-luddites: with every new development, the emergence of more powerful AI clarifies human value, rather than obscuring it.  As AI handles more information-heavy, computational and analytical tasks, what becomes precious and rare isn't what machines can replicate or imitate, but what they can't so authentically reproduce: our ability to formulate the questions that advance us as a species, our ability and desire to connect, our inner quest to find meaning in existence, but mostly to purposefully imagine beyond existing patterns. I call myself a paranoid optimist about technology in general, but am an absolute optimist about humanity. The more AI advances, the more it illuminates what makes us uniquely human. Our challenge isn't competing with AI– it's thoughtfully shaping its development to improve our inherent human capabilities. Is Paramount's Tech Transformation Just a Pipe Dream? In the ever-evolving landscape of media, David Ellison’s announcement about transforming Paramount into a tech powerhouse stirred quite the conversation.
