The Golden Ratio is not forcibly applied to the UI. The below draft design was aligned and refined according to the Golden Ratio Rule (GRR) during my class for a batch today. One of my batches brought up the challenge of applying the Golden Ratio while adhering to a 4-multiplier grid-based design specification for their portfolio app. This 4-multiplier is consistently applied throughout the design in terms of spacing, element sizes, and placements. My mentees didn't give up or hesitate to check how the Golden Ratio works for practical app development. They are now taking their learning, understanding of golden proportions and Gestalt Principles in their projects to the next level. They are convinced with rationale behind of it as this is not force-fitted and not forced to apply it 😉 🤗 But Golden Ratio can delightfully attract users to use it. Because it renders in their cognition with the relation of real-world reference and their mental models which in turn inherently benefits UX metrics of better user adoption and engagement on the qualitative side. NOTE: This is just an example and not a final design. Applied for the mentees' understanding and approach during my class. CRUD rules such as Update and Delete functions still to be applied in the design based on the use cases that they have already worked on.

I'm hearing a lot of pain and confusion from a lot of designers and technologists and other folks trying to navigate jobs in these times. You as an individual worker (or as a customer or user of the products of design and technology) will never be valued for your own sake by an organization striving to maximize shareholder value. Collective action is the only way to counter this mandate and increase the cost of unethical, inhumane, or otherwise unreasonable practices. Sometimes this means working together more or less formally to influence policy and regulation, sometimes this means unionization. Asking nicely isn't going to do it. The last two weeks have been exhilarating! I've had the privilege of diving deep into a product's core with a fantastic team. The experience has only reaffirmed my belief in value-centered design. The surprising ROI of kindness. Today, as I launched ZenShifu on Product Hunt, I realized a beautiful thing that I just have to share with you all. For months, I've been getting loads of DMs on LinkedIn. Some were pitches, some were questions, some were just friendly hellos. Most of them are from Product Hunt asking for support on their launch. I decided to be nice to every single one of them and support them as much as I could. Fast forward to today. As I'm reaching out to folks about my launch, something magical happened. All those conversations, all that kindness and all those supports - they were coming back around. I wasn't just another random person in their inbox. I was someone they remembered, someone they wanted to support. Here's the kicker: I felt GOOD about it. There was no awkwardness, no "sorry to bother you" vibes. Just genuine connections and mutual support. So here's my challenge to you: Be kind. Always. Even when you're busy. Even when it doesn't seem to "pay off" right away. Because trust me, it does. The Design Illusion of LLMs : LLMs may look polished but are not intuitive & well-designed for user experience. Oversimplification can mislead and often hamper experience. This highlights two design misconceptions: 1) Treating LLMs as consumer products but are more for professional users, it still require expertise and training : designing them like windows rather than interactive spaces (rooms) analogy is great to discuss 2) The piece argues that LLMs are presented as simple, on contrary users struggle because their complexity is hidden. It's been a while, but I think some of the points are still relevant today. Financial incentives can be a powerful tool for influencing user behavior. They can be used to motivate people to take action, complete tasks, and achieve goals. But they can also backfire, leading to people becoming less motivated by the core product. So, how can we rethink about incentives? - Focus on the intrinsic value of the product. What is the product itself worth? What are the benefits that people get from using it? If the product is valuable enough, people will be motivated to use it even without financial incentives. - Use incentives strategically. Incentives can be a great way to get people started with a product or to encourage them to try new features. But they should be used sparingly and not overused. - Be transparent about incentives. People should know how they can earn incentives and what they need to do to get them. This will help to build trust and prevent people from feeling like they are being manipulated. Financial incentives can be a useful tool, but they should be used strategically. By focusing on the intrinsic value of the product and using incentives sparingly, we can create products that people will love and use long-term.
