Red flags when interviewing for Revenue Enablement jobs...these are solid signs that you should think carefully before saying yes to an offer: 1. Senior revenue leader(s) can not state the specific impacts they expect Enablement to have on their revenue outcomes. 2. Bad Seller/Enablement headcount ratio - for example, a 3-person Enablement team to support a global sales team of 300 (yes, this is extremely common.) 3. Tech stack imbalance - there's 6+ solutions in their Sales tech stack but they have no legit Enablement tech that can track and quantify the impact of skills growth on revenue. Note: SharePoint is not legit Enablement tech. 4. No defined Enablement budget - if they have not dedicated money to it, it is not a priority for them and you will be vulnerable. Period. 5. They laid off their previous Enablement team within the past two years - if so, ask them what they learned from it, what are the business triggers that are making them rebuild their Enablement team now, and what will they be doing differently now as revenue leaders to not repeat the experience. If there's a lack of detail and readiness in their responses, be very cautious. These are particularly relevant if you're looking for Enablement roles within the tech industry. Now, if you need a job NOW to survive and you've got an offer in hand, take it and keep looking for something better if you need to. Survival first, and don't apologize to nobody for it. But if you have the ability to protect yourself from taking an unstable Enablement role and being laid off 12-18 months later, this is a smart time to protect yourself and your family from that kind of instability. #management #sales #leadership #motivation #humanresources #bestadvice #futureofwork

Coaching the WHOLE person is so important to the work we do at Inspirewell. What do I mean by that? The reasons why people are struggling is often not found in your CRM reports. Data is great -- I bring standard reporting into all of my coaching engagements. But the data is just the starting point. Data points to a symptom of something that is going on. The cause of that symptom can be a number of things. You can't guess at it. You need to collaborate with your rep in a coaching conversation to accurately diagnose the cause. The answer may be a limiting belief that is holding someone back. In this video you hear from an awesome edtech seller, Lindsey Ohls. She jokes about me being her life coach, but if you aren't understanding the whole of the person to understand root cause, then you are likely coaching the wrong things.

Customer service today, generally, sucks. There, I said it. I know that's a huge, unfair generalization. Really, I get that. It just feels, to me anyway, that most companies today -- particularly those direct to consumer outfits -- are intentionally trying to provide the least amount of service required to keep a sustaining number of customers. And they're taking comfort in the fungibility of most goods and services. Don't like my service? No worries, go to my competitor; one of theirs will head my way soon. From an article in today's The Wall Street Journal: "[They are] paying more, but then they’re not seeing the benefit of paying more... They’re not getting a better experience that they think should accompany that higher price.” "At the same time, many companies looking to improve their customer experience scores are hesitant to invest the cash and resources needed to really do so." Yeah, that's showing up in bright colors. This isn't simply substandard leadership in customer service -- it's just poor leadership. Full stop. As we move into fall, it is time for many year end time. A big question should be is your executive ( ELT) performing well? Is their talent optimized? We have seen most companies do not spend enough time in team building at the ELT level. Our team at Predictive Success Corporation has discovered a common thread: a lack of connection between executives. Team members weren’t prioritizing building relationships with each other. Conversations revolved around tackling immediate issues and day-to-day tasks, leaving little room for fostering a sense of team unity and collaboration. To my GTM leaders and operators knee deep in annual planning...remember to make your 2025 plans actionable. What do I mean? Ideally during annual planning you've identified the sales motions or retention needs that will ladder up to the growth targets for the new year, inform quotas and design comp plans to drive those behaviors. But how many of you are planning to role out those new quotas and comp plans with ACTIONABLE processes and playbooks tied to those motions to level up your GTM teams? So many growth stage companies I have worked with focus all their time and energy in Q4 trying to get quotas and territories set for the new year...January refining and approving and rolling out comp plans...and the rest of Q1 asking their ICs to learn their new territories, account plan, and work through handovers. Pipeline meetings are spent identifying where the gaps to those targets are, but not the why or how to close them. Think about how much faster you could see GTM productivity if those comp plans and quotas are rolled out WITH the game plan for those reps to hit the ground running.

Workplace Employee Resource and Affinity Groups are among the most powerful forms of employee advocacy, and they aren't going away simply because companies are curtailing support. The first affinity group, Xerox's Black Employee Caucus, was not started by the company back in the 1960s. They were a self-organized and self-administered group of colleagues who sought safety, community, and mentorship. Uber's first ERGs started in a very similar vein in 2015 and 2016 without the support of leadership or management. They ended up playing a pivotal role in Uber's evolution during the turmoil of 2017 and 2018. Companies dismantling or withdrawing support for ERGs do so at their own peril. The groups will remain in less formal, less coordinated manners.
