We’re excited to share that Amtrak has selected our joint venture with STV to provide project management services for the Sawtooth Bridge Replacement Project, a key component of the Gateway Program that aims to address state of good repair needs and double passenger train capacity on the most congested 10-mile section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). Originally constructed in 1907, the bridges serve as a critical link in the NEC, supporting more than 400 daily trains operated by Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT over tracks used by NJ TRANSIT, PATH and Conrail freight trains. The project will deliver three new bridges along a 1.9-mile corridor in Kearny, N.J., between Newark Penn Station and Secaucus Junction “We’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Amtrak by supporting this crucial transit upgrade, which is part of an array of generational federal investments in the nation’s rail infrastructure,” said Lara Poloni, our president. CTrail Shore Line East is a convenient regional rail service that operates seven days a week between New London and New Haven, CT, with select weekday thru service to Stamford. This service is a partnership between the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and Amtrak. Shore Line East connects with the New Haven Line (operated by Metro-North) at New Haven Union Station for travel to southwestern Connecticut and Grand Central Terminal in New York City. NEW: The Port Authority has awarded joint-venture firm Tutor Perini/O&G with a design-build contract to replace Newark Liberty International Airport's existing outmoded AirTrain system. Service reliability on the Northeast Corridor has improved during the last several months due to a joint effort by Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT. After issuing a report in August, which included details of joint efforts and progress to date, Amtrak and NJ Transit released a new progress report on Nov. 20 and discussed the recently-awarded grants for nearly $300 million in federal funding to modernize critical rail infrastructure in New Jersey. RMF celebrates the completion of the Penn State University Tunnel A Repairs and Replacement project, which was a significant project for PSU and our York, PA team. The project was completed under budget and on schedule with the continued on-site presence of RMF’s talented mechanical and structural engineers! Tunnel A begins at the campus power plant and runs for 1,040 linear feet (LF). It is responsible for supplying steam from the West Campus Steam Plant to subsequent PSU steam tunnels and provides the heat source for the Hammond Engineering Building. A critical portion of the campus distribution system posed a high risk of failure. RMF did a visual evaluation of all the piping systems and supports within the tunnel, including a thermal stress analysis and thermal scanning for evaluation of the insulation to estimate the potential energy and cost savings of replacing insulation. Based on the assessment’s recommendations, RMF supplied a redesign, which made Tunnel A more robust, reliable for the long-term, and more efficient.  #rmf #rmfengineering #engineering #infrastructure #pennstate

Conrac Solutions Operators recently marked the first operational anniversary at two rental car facilities: Newark Liberty International Airport Consolidated Rental Car (ConRAC) facility, and Eugene Airport’s Quick Turn-Around (QTA) facility. During its first year of operations, the Newark Liberty International Airport ConRAC site team has prioritized efficient operations, working closely with CS Project Delivery to fine-tune and test systems to enhance building performance. The team promptly addressed warranty-related repairs and escalator outages, and completed several projects, including installing an additional security gate, upgrading PVC plumbing to steel, implementing a variable frequency drive to control the car wash pumps and prevent plumbing damage, as well as adding mufflers to the vacuum systems throughout the facility. The team at Eugene Airport (EUG) Quick Turn-Around (QTA) facility oversaw key improvements over its first year of operations, including the installation of EV chargers and repairs to the fuel system and car wash. Six extended fuel hoses were added to the fueling station for ease of access and convenience and three new fuel dispensers were installed. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional service and continuously improving. We appreciate the continued partnership of the rental car industry and airports.
