LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman predicts that the traditional 9 to 5 job will be obsolete within 10 years (3). While many forward-thinking organizations are likely to focus on how to integrate contemporary tech such as AI to streamline systems, service-based organizations that interface with clients must remember employees still have to interface with consumers and deliver the intended experience. The death of a traditional career, the Great Resignation, recent trends in job hopping, and divergent desires from the Gen Z community will require organizations to reconsider their talent acquisition and retention practices as they identify how to re-organize their own systems and processes. Service-based organizations that require client interaction will lose their critical competitive advantage if leadership practices do not evolve to meet the needs of the emerging potential workforce that has a multitude of options as they grow up leveraging increasingly robust technology. Gen Z indicated that one of the largest determining factors that was predictive of the intent to leave a job was a sense of meaningful and purpose-drive work, which differs from the previous two generations that were also interested in establishing career longevity. "[...] leader behavior, rather than a [High Performance Work Systrem] is the primary causative driver of client satisfaction" which indicates that employee satisfaction and subsequent client satisfaction are mostly impacted by leader behavior (2). Injecting intimate management practices through showing caring, closeness, and social support for employee interests and well-being will likely be a competitive advantage for brands to remain a consistent choice for consumers (4). From a transindustrial perspective, the increasing prevalence of depression may potentially act as a proxy signaling an increased desire for genuine human connection both in professional and personal environments (4). Social connection has a potent effect on feelings of isolation, suggesting that a connection-based working environment may be attractive as applicants consider opportunities. Mandated CEU trainings are frequently limited to ethics, boundaries, or other topics of limited value. While not directly addressing batterer's intervention training, the results indicate that AI could potentially enhance such training programs by Analyzing Program Efficacy. AI models could be utilized to analyze data from past batterer intervention programs. This analysis could identify factors contributing to successful outcomes and reduced recidivism, which could inform best practices and optimize program design.t practices and optimize program design.t practices and optimize program design. Tailoring Interventions AI could help tailor interventions to individual batterers based on their characteristics, risk factors, and behavior patterns. Personalized approaches may improve engagement and outcomes. This could allow for earlier intervention before violence occurs. However, any application of AI would need to be carefully designed, validated, and implemented ethically, respecting privacy and avoiding bias or harm. Ultimately, enhancing batterers' intervention training likely requires a multi-pronged approach combining AI capabilities with human expertise, evidence-based practices, and robust program evaluation. California mandates 16 hours of training each year for Certified Batterer's Intervention Facilitators provided by experts.

Parallel.[ par-uh-lel, -luhl ] adjective. extending in the same direction, equidistant at all points, and never converging or diverging. There is an All Way stop not that far from where I live. Not a 4-way stop. An All Way stop. Six roads converge in one place. It is anything but a parallel situation. At any intersection, there is a #negotiation that occurs—this stop is more complicated, though. There are arrivals from all directions. One might call it a truth or dare intersection as the rules for an All Way stop are probably in the fine print in the Driver’s Ed manual. (In the very fine print.) Recently, I saw an accident at the All Way stop. It was a graceful accident. But an accident all the same. Two people took a dare in parallel and, for a short time, their cars connected in the middle of the intersection. It was a sideswipe. The kind you usually only see on a racetrack. Or in a ballet. It seems like they were in it together—in parallel, almost, except that –by negating the negotiation — they converged. There was property damage on both sides. At the All Way stop, it is our eyes that meet or our cars that do. *** When I was about 8 years old, my best friend Elizabeth invited me to ski at Powder Ridge. The moguls were her favorite. So we started on the moguls even though it was my first time. I pointed my parallel skies downhill right at the first mogul and hit it at high speed. Crash. My approach was fast, but not marked by keen discernment— or friction. The good news is that it was just me who crashed. I wasn’t responsible for anyone else that day. I learned that carving turns around the moguls is a better way to experience them. That a long-winded and slow winding conversation with the hillside is the better approach on a very large hill with moguls. *** When I was at a retreat center a few weeks ago, there was a labyrinth and out of curiosity I walked it. If you are a regular labyrinth-walker, you know more than I do. As a novice, I noticed you walk straight through a parallel set of stones that form the guardrails of the path to the center of the labyrinth where the tokens of previous labyrinth-walkers are; flowers, pine cones, pebbles. The destination is in reach in your first few steps. But then the stones that outline the path separate you from it. You pivot. And the path of the labyrinth takes you away from where you are trying to go. As far away as you can get from what you are aiming for, for the rest of the circular walk. But in the end (much later) you still arrive. *** Someone once described the #beauty of (#leadership in) a democracy to me like this—-(or leading anything with consequences that extend to everyone.) “It's a crabwise walk,” he said. Imagine a younger you of, say, 5 years ago. Now, with those assumptions and expectations, close your eyes and listen for a minute or two to the attached podcast. Judging it by those earlier expectations, what do you think of the verisimilitude and depth of the discussion? The results could be better with finer editorial and production controls, which I assume will quickly evolve. Now, imagine where how such capabilities might plausibly advance in 5 years. I acknowledge some technology experts like David Reed and Gary Marcus don't agree, but I think it's a pretty good start and will lead to valuable tools. What do you think?
