About
"A baby boomer with the heart and soul of a millennial” best describes me. I grew up believing that dedicated, thoughtful people can change the world by working together. I’m still a believer. I’m even more committed to the possibility of meaningful change because we have a huge, untapped resource: women, people of color, and other underestimated entrepreneurs!
For the last few years, I have researched and written about women's challenges and successes in the entrepreneurial business world. My passion for getting women on the radar as leaders of mega-firms led me to write Forget the Glass Ceiling: Build Your Business Without One.
I embarked on another research project aimed at helping women entrepreneurs get the funding they need through investment crowdfunding. Yup, I walked the walk and took the challenge myself. I love hands-on research – the way to solve problems, and collaboration – the keystone of both crowdfunding and entrepreneurial success.
It’s why I’ve taught entrepreneurship at The New School, facilitated Kauffman FastTrac courses for NYC small business owners, and became a contributor to Forbes writing about the success factors of women entrepreneurs. It’s also why I founded Ventureneer, which provides branded research, training, and content marketing opportunities that generate visibility, thought leadership and brand loyalty for corporations, government agencies and foundations that want to reach entrepreneurs and small business owners.
I’m a questioner and a builder – dedicated to eliminating barriers that slow down the economy.

Why is financial literacy important for social entrepreneurship?
Social entrepreneurs are driven by a dual mission—to create a positive social impact while maintaining financial viability. Social enterprises need funds to operate and achieve their social goals. Financial skills enable you to make informed resource-allocation decisions. Showing your financial acumen is crucial for attracting investors, lenders, and grants. You can track key metrics with financial skills to maximize your social good. Understanding cash flow management, debt management, and financial modeling can help you identify and avoid potential financial risks. You must build stakeholder trust by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets and reports, and clearly communicating financial performance.
