An interesting article relating the Visa Flexible Credential announcement to the proposed Capital One-Discover Financial Services merger. Here is my contribution to the piece: "Rapid payments technology development is spurring competition between credit and debit card issuers in other ways, said Aaron McPherson, a principal at AFM Consulting. "Visa's flexible credential is a defensive move, and particularly relevant in the context of open banking, growing peer-to-peer payment network volume and possible legislation requiring that merchants can choose which networks transactions are processed on," McPherson said, referring to the Credit Card Competition Act." #payments Visa #openbanking

Another way to look at it is as an #identity play, in conjunction with the Visa Payment Passkey also announced at the event. If Visa can establish its cards as universal identifiers, it would go a long way toward addressing what I see as a real weakness of current #P2P networks, which is the need to rely on an email address or phone number, both of which can and do change. Unbundling the Visa identifier from the card account also enables Visa to compete in other areas, such as #embeddedfinance.

I get to talk about the value of #AIforBusiness everyday💰( ☘️ ) It's a big topic spanning industries, use cases, regulations, concerns about security and governance, how to increase productivity, how to deploy AI-enabled-automation to improve business process, and more. The #1 question asked by a client this week was "are companies truly profiting from AI"? My immediate reaction was "yes, of course", and then "some, not quite yet". What a paradox. How would you respond? 💡 We're just beginning this #genAI journey, and there are so many ways to ignite innovation that we haven't even thought of yet. This is the bottom line, where the rubber meets the road… the shizzle. Stop thinking about what AI to buy, and start thinking about your organization- its values, its ethics. Whatever AI you decide to embrace has to first meet your values. I know it sounds strange, AI to meet your values, but that is what AI is supposed to be - the reflection of the humans who use it.
