A prospect listening to two of your super fans rave about you to each other is the easiest way to convince them to buy. (low hanging fruit for the REI vendor ecosystem, too!) So why don’t we do more of that? It used to be expensive. It meant renting venues, hosting big events, and crossing fingers for a turnout that would magically lead to revenue. Yet we still did it, because we KNOW the power of social proof and cognitive bias. But times have changed. This type of execution has gone FROM big expensive home run swings or nothing TO being able to get runners on base tactically before your heavy hitters step to the plate For the non baseball people- Hosting your own event has been de-risked! Getting you superconsumers to collide with your prospects has gone digital!  Thanks again, internet! But what most people haven’t figured out yet is that the magic happens when you use digital and in person events in concert. Here's the formula we’ve followed for multiple clients: •⁠ ⁠Launch a podcast that interviews experts and success cases in your category •⁠ ⁠Create a “live” cadence of the show that includes audience interaction and ritualize it •⁠ ⁠Take the best guests and create panel versions of the “live” similar to what you would see at a conference •⁠ ⁠At your next conference, do an IRL version of this execution + host a meetup of podcast guests, live show regulars, and anyone else interested in. •⁠ ⁠Follow this for 12-18 months. •⁠ ⁠By month 18, when you announce your own hosted event, you have a built in proof of concept, pent up demand for connection from the people that didn’t go to the conferences, and pre-vetted/pre-promoted mini celebrities that will attract others to your event The rest is event marketing basics you can hire a company like Rockway Exhibits + Events turnkey or work with a handful of partners to pull off your version of it. We call this "the community watefall." You go FROM showing up at existing watering holes (online, trade shows, partner events) TO establishing your own curated watering hole where you control the experience. And the experience should be engineered to pull the ultimate tool of persuasion at scale- As many moments of prospects listening to two of your super fans rave about you as possible. Just received word that DealerOn has completed their acquisition of Sincro, a DealerOn company. The biggest question in any acquisition is Why. It's generally 1 of 2 things More rooftops to insert current systems and expand market share, or new technologies to incorporate into the current book of business and grow revenue. As an active DealerOn affiliate, I'm curious to see what happens over the next 6 months. Could be good. Could be bad. Does anyone have experience with Sincro sites or services? Podcasting is the greatest canvas in media for the free and open exchange of ideas. Adjacent channels like radio, streaming audio, and creator-driven video share this same DNA. All are built on a foundation of trust between creators and their audiences. When that trust extends to brands through authentic personal recommendations, it becomes the most powerful form of advertising. Right now, these channels are undervalued, and brands are underserved. There are too many systemic challenges—particularly around measurement—that prevent many brands from entering these spaces or achieving maximum scale. To unlock the full power of spoken word media, specialized resources are required to turn these platforms into a marketer’s secret weapon. To achieve this, leading contributors who believe in this channel need to unite. I began my career in audio in 2003, and I’ve always believed this is, at its core, a relationship business. Success comes from maximizing trust across the entire supply chain—from audiences to creators, publishers, agencies, brands, and ultimately, customers. Over the past 21 years, I’ve had the privilege to build relationships with, work alongside, and sometimes compete against people whose values I deeply respect. One shining example is the team at Veritone One. Since my earliest days, I’ve learned from leaders like Patrick Lennon, Zeus Peleuses, and Stephen Smyk. I’ve admired the forward-thinking vision of CEO Ryan Steelberg as he introduced solutions a decade ahead of the market. And I’m inspired by the new leadership under Jess Robine and Conor Doyle. Stats about Dynamic Tech Media in 2024: 📈 18 clients served 🏙️ 2 public companies 🚀 10 high-tech startups 🌄 9 clients in Colorado ⚛️ 8 sectors represented (IT, quantum, advanced manufacturing, etc) 📚 23 articles published on the DTM blog ✏️ 60 posts on Dynamic Tech Media LI 😁 15 current relationships with freelance artists (writers, designers, etc) 🌧️ Countless failures ♾️ Lessons learned It's crazy looking at where this company was this time last year and comparing it to where we are at now. This week I've been playing with the remote podcasting tool Zencastr. The recording process was straightforward and the AI audio editing tools made it easy to remove (or keep) the "ums," "ahs," and "you knows." It was also crazy simple to upload my own video background and adjust the video feed images on top. You could also create multiple video sizes (e.g. landscape + portrait) but they used additional credits to export. My biggest hesitation with Zencastr is that there is no way to save your edits and come back to it – at least I haven't found a way. What if your internet goes out while you're editing or your browser crashes? 👀 Even after you send it to post-production, there's not a way to go back in and make adjustments if requested by a guest or someone else on the approval chain. It's definitely a one-take tool. Are there other low-cost, easy-to-use podcast recording and editing tools I should try? I'm keen to give Zencastr another go now that I've worked out the first-timer kinks, but I'd hate to lose my work while editing. #podcasting #marketing #videopodcasting
