Denovo Biopharma LLC received an $11.8 million grant from California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to advance its brain cancer therapy, DB107. The grant was awarded to conduct a Phase 1/2 clinical trial at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for patients with high-grade glioma and glioblastoma. Their DB107 drug, acquired from Tocagen in 2020, uses gene therapy to selectively target and destroy tumor cells. They also claim to have developed a technology to identify biomarkers that predict a patient's response to their drugs. With plans to expand its drug development process and biomarker discovery initiative over the next five years, they have raised about $180 million since its launch in 2012. They have eight drugs in its pipeline targeting cancer and mental health disorders.
