Our design team recently attended Figma's Config 2024 conference, and they returned energized and full of insights. The event was a fantastic opportunity to network with designers from around the world and deepen our knowledge of Figma, our most critical design tool. Figma AI: The new AI capabilities in Figma are particularly intriguing. Features like generating UI mocks, images, prototypes, and contextual layer renaming promise to streamline our design process. We're excited to explore how these tools can be applied practically in our projects. Figma Slides: Figma's bold move into the presentation space with Figma Slides is noteworthy. Challenging established tools like PowerPoint and Google Slides, Figma Slides offers advanced editing tools, AI writing assistance, and interactive features. We're keen to see how this evolves and how we can leverage it for our design presentations. Attending Config 2024 has been incredibly valuable for our team. Jay Fienberg, Mariyam Elshrief, Claire Barth, and Ola Hirszler, feel free to call out some of your favorite learnings from the event! Let's embrace these innovations and see where they take us! #Design #Figma #Config2024 #Innovation #AI #Networking #TeamGrowth

To get the critically important work done as a product manager, you need about four solid hours of deep work each day - Marty Cagan. This is a minimal requirement for PM growth. Last week, I shared how you can start building a routine to integrate AI into your work. https://lnkd.in/gG_DkyJ3 This week, I’m taking it a step further by exploring AI tools that can boost productivity as a PM. 🛠️ Here are a few different AI tools I'm using: 1️⃣Glean saves me hours every week by summarizing meetings I can’t attend. Now, I can focus on the big decisions without chasing down information. 2️⃣Clockwise+ Google Meet handles my scheduling and meeting transcriptions, allowing me to stay in flow while ensuring timely and concise follow-ups. 3️⃣ChatGPT helps me scale my writing, from meeting notes to executive summaries. It’s also a strategic thought partner, uncovering insights I might have missed. AI gives me more time for strategic work, increasing my leverage as a PM. Discover how these tools can save you hours each week in this week’s post 👉 https://lnkd.in/gxycbCNP Next week, I’ll wrap it all up with a step-by-step guide for integrating AI into your daily workflow. Don’t miss it! #AI #ProductManagement #Productivity

There's always that chicken and egg thought: How will I be able to answer interview questions about my product experience if I don't have any product experience? But how do I GET product experience? The unsatisfying answer, is you just start doing it. It took me a while to figure out that the problems facing every company and every team are basically the same, what's unique are the solutions you come up with. And you don't need permission to start coming up with solutions, especially if you treat your team's process as your product. A career update - After three incredible years at Enigma leading product, I’m off to different pastures - I am deeply deeply grateful to Hicham Oudghiri, Scott Steinberg, Ryan Green, and all my talented and kind teammates. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and excited to see us on the road to profitable growth! I’ve taken on a role as VP of Product at EvolutionIQ, and consider this a public broadcast that Matt Gillespie and I are hiring for Senior PMs. https://lnkd.in/etzCZMuP Just to list some of the reasons I joined: - An opportunity to completely transform how insurance operates and define what it means to help get people get back to work, done together with some of the most thoughtful and smart people I've met. - At the forefront of human-in-the-loop + AI decision-making - equal parts behavioral psychology and AI prediction + LLMs. I’d guess that this skill set will be THE PM skillset to have for the coming years! - GTM momentum and ARR growth, where despite my deep hatred for the 🚀emoij, I was almost unconsciously possessed to repeat 🚀 paste🚀 it 🚀🚀🚀🚀. I truly found it unbelievable at first. If you know of talented individuals that would be a good fit, please let me know!

🚀 Exploring AI’s Role in Product Management I've been exploring how AI can help build better products, and a trend that’s catching on is AI enabling PMs (even non-engineers) to quickly create functional prototypes. Imagine spinning up a web app for user testing without coding — it's a game-changer in how we iterate and validate ideas faster. Personally, I found picking a popular stack like MERN stack with tons of open source documentation will help AI tools to return much more reliable results and functional code. How are you seeing AI transform product development? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #ProductManagement #AI #Innovation #Prototyping #UserTesting #Agile #EmergingTrends #SpeedToMarket

Some product teams may suffer from the need or pressure to constantly produce 'outputs' instead of focusing on the 'outcomes', reducing themselves to feature factories while losing sight of 'why' they are shipping something. It's important that product roadmap priorities are tied back to key product goals and the relevant metrics to measure success, and of course larger business objectives - this helps to keep the team focused on what's important, and not chase after every shiny object that cross their path. #product #analytics

How are you truly prioritizing your users' experience in every step of your product development? Kameron Canbaz from Yahoo shares valuable strategies on creating outstanding user experiences: 🔧 Early Engineer Involvement Bring engineers into the design phase early to prevent errors and ensure alignment with user goals. 👥 User-Centric Mindset Regularly communicate with users and conduct feedback sessions to stay attuned to their needs and frustrations. 💡 Foster Empathy Cultivate a culture of empathy within your product teams to better understand and address user challenges. 📊 Effective Error Tracking Implement robust error tracking and performance monitoring to quickly identify and resolve issues that affect users. 🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration Encourage product managers to take ownership of the user experience and work closely with designers and engineers to enhance the product continuously. By integrating these practices, you can significantly improve your product’s usability and user satisfaction. Really enjoyed my chat with Matt Hinds, CEO of Sauce, where we talked about transforming product vision into company strategy, partnering with CEOs, and protecting teams against planning busy work that gets thrown away in Q1. As we head into company planning season, here’s the tl;dr on how to get planning right: 📝 Define the strategy — Create a 1-pager (ok, maybe a 2-pager) that includes: the mission, what that means for customers in 3 years time, and investment areas for the next 12-18 months. 👥 Design the org — Spend a lot of time on org design so your teams reflect that strategy. 🎯 Clarify the investment areas — What’s even more important than what you’re investing in, is what you’re not investing in. Make sure your teams know what to focus on and what falls away. 🔨 Empower teams — Let the what’s and how’s come from the team. As a leader, it’s not up to you to dictate what we need to build. You need to empower your teams to decide that based on their in depth understanding of your customers and business. Curious to know what others biggest learnings have been when it comes to planning? Drop me a comment below and let's compare notes 👇 #product #startups #productmanagement

🔊 Let’s be real—Slack being too noisy is still one of our biggest problems to solve. Important messages can easily get buried, and staying on top of what matters most isn’t always easy. That’s why I’m so excited about this new feature we just started rolling out. Say hello to VIPs ⭐️ Now, you can set VIPs in your Slack workspace to make sure their messages and notifications are elevated, prioritized and cut through the noise. Whether it’s a teammate, your manager, or anyone else critical to your work, this feature helps ensure you don’t miss the important stuff. You might not see it yet, as we’re rolling it out gradually, but once you do, I’d love to hear what you think after trying it out! 🎉 Huge congrats to Meghan Uno Carla Gonzales Emily Straubel Jon Russell and the rest of the team for bringing this to life. https://lnkd.in/gB2sKPKk

How do you incorporate user research into your product development process? I don't see user research used enough to inspire Growth ideas, but if used correctly, it's one of the best ways to find the winning tests. Jing Jing Tan, who leads UX Research for Uber Eats in New York, and I chat about specific examples of how my teams leverage user research to find the biggest Growth experiment wins. Tell us - how do you include user research?

For 5+ years, I (alongside the MQA team) have been dedicated to helping customers build QA programs with QA scores. Now, we're talking about the Death of the QA Score. Why the 180 degree change? It's rooted in the craziness that makes us human. We get so obsessed about numbers, and reporting, and ACCURACY. Then, when it comes to #s about people, we hyper focus on FAIRNESS. Even , if the # wasn't related to performance management, Numbers Judging People drives 7 out of 10 people off the wall. (Hmm maybe it originates from our school system and grades and SATs and GPAs etc.? 🤔 ) Next thing you know - your average QA Score is 97% and deep down, everyone knows that's not the truth. The system is being gamed. Next thing you know - you see a situation that should be dug into but you have to randomly sample to be FAIR. We get wrapped up in a tornado ( 🌪🌪 🌪 ) of conversations about the above...and lose sight of what ACTUALLY MATTERS. Kaizen. Learning. Personal Development. Continuous improvement. Getting 1% better each and every day. Focus on finding insights to improve the business. When you remove the score, you can shift from Random to Targeted Issues. When you remove the score, you can focus on finding problems and opportunities than 'grading the person fairly' Going from 1% QA to 100% QA to get a statistically significant score misses the point and perpetuates the original issues. The the future of QA is Targeted and Non-Scoring. Use AI to find better things to Target.

Such a great feature idea. Aha! is still crushing it -- they intimately understand the jobs-to-be-done for a PM. Can't tell you how many times I've had a need only to realize they've anticipated it and what I need had already been built / planned. #productmanagement #aha #software #meetings https://lnkd.in/e7T2UUY5

Hey LinkedIn Team & LinkedIn PMs fam! Hope you're all doing well as H2'24 kicks off, bringing in the season of festivity and higher revenue. 🎉 As a Product Leader, I love exploring premiumness or loyalty driving products myself to refine my Product thinking nuggets for user retention. In that context, I had subscribed to LinkedIn Business Premium couple of years back, which renews every year. I have been and am still a LinkedIn Premium Subscriber (as I write this). Interestingly, despite being a Premium member, I continue to receive a barrage of ads and messages prompting me to upgrade... to Premium. 🤔 It makes me wonder if there's a disconnect somewhere within the system - perhaps a hiccup in the CDP or Sales pipelines not syncing with the CRM or DMP? I'm curious to learn from fellow LinkedIn PMs about the best practices they follow to ensure real-time data consistency across different platforms. Specifically for ads or growth campaigns! Additionally, I wonder if there's a possibility, dear LinkedIn PMs fam, to introduce a "Don't show me ads" toggle for dedicated Premium customers? 🤔 This is not a rant, just a request :) Edge cases exist, and I understand your roadmap might be full! Let's keep building great features :) #ProductManagement #DataConsistency #UserExperience #Product
