Being an avid armchair watcher of tech advances and disruption - I'm wondering how this one is going to play out. Amazon is now selling cars online and working directly with the car manufacturers. Similar to other brick and mortar retailer woes, does this mean that dealerships will just become showrooms as people try the cars and then leave to buy online? If successful, this could certainly demand a new business model for the auto industry. Here's an observation I've had working in the automotive industry - Specifically in the Used Car market. True Digital Retail Does Not Exist. Until you can buy a used car and have the exact same experience as ordering something from Amazon, it's not digital retail. No requiring financing. No days-long processing times. No speaking with a representative. And I think that's the clearest example of what the team is working on at DealNow - empowering TRUE digital retail. It's uncommon to see innovation in a product that has been chugging along at the same level for decades. For those that don't know about RealTrends Verified, it's the one real estate rankings program that uses double-verified data (from the agent and their brokerage).
