Lee, Pharm.D, Esq., CPBS and Martha Rumore are featured in a Specialty Pharmacy Continuum article, “'A War Brewing’ Between GLP-1 Manufacturers and Compounders” by Gina Shaw. The article highlights Novo Nordisk's request that the FDA add Wegovy products to the "Demonstrable Difficulties for Compounding (DDC) List," arguing that GLP-1 drugs such as semaglutide and tirzepatide may be too complex for 503A and 503B compounders to manufacture “essential” copies of. Drugs on the DDC list are considered not safe for compounding, and if Wegovy products are added to this list, they cannot be compounded. Dae and Martha share their thoughts in the article. Non-Compete Ban by FTC vs. Pennsylvania – What Will Be the Outcome? Health Law/ Employment alert by Lamb McErlane attorneys Vasilios Kalogredis and Sonal Parekh, Esq. Last week, Vasilios and Sonal published an article discussing the Federal Trade Commission’s (“FTC”) final rule implementing a nationwide ban on noncompetes, subject to a few exceptions. However, one week prior to the passing of the final rule, on April 17, 2024, House Bill 1633 (“HB 1633”) was passed by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, which prohibits the enforcement of noncompete covenants entered into by health care practitioners and employers. First introduced on August 29, 2023, HB 1633 (as amended), if passed and signed into law, will represent the first law limiting noncompetes in the health care industry in Pennsylvania. With broader restrictions, if Pennsylvania’s HB 1633 is passed, and no changes are made to the FTC’s final rule, employees in Pennsylvania can expect greater protections going forward.
