Felicia Sabatino, CSM, PMP’s PMP Success Story Here are her most valuable takeaways for anyone preparing for the PMP exam: 1️⃣ Can you introduce yourself and share your project management experience? Felicia: I have 6–7 years of experience in project management in the life sciences industry 2️⃣ When did you start your PMP preparation? Felicia: I began in June by completing the application process and started a course at the end of June or early July. 3️⃣ How much time did you spend preparing for the exam? Felicia: The course formed the bulk of my preparation. I had only 4 focused study days due to other commitments. 4️⃣ What was your study approach during those 4 days? Felicia: I reviewed my course notes, took practice exams, identified weak areas, and focused on improving them. 5️⃣ Did you use any additional resources? Felicia: I read half of Rita Mulcahy’s book and completed all the practice tests in it. 6️⃣ How many practice questions did you attempt, and what were your scores? Felicia: I attempted around 2,000 questions, scoring in the high 80s to low 90s on average. 7️⃣ How did you manage time during the exam? Felicia: I divided the exam time into thirds, flagged 5–7 questions per section, and finished 45 minutes early. 8️⃣ What was the distribution of questions (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)? Felicia: Around 40% Agile, 45–50% Waterfall, and 10% Hybrid. 9️⃣ What should aspirants focus on during preparation? Felicia: Focus on understanding concepts and their purpose. Avoid memorizing ITTOs. 🔟 Did you encounter mathematical questions on the exam? Felicia: No calculations were required, only interpretation of pre-calculated figures. 1️⃣1️⃣ What would you avoid doing during preparation? Felicia: Don’t waste time memorizing ITTOs or playing process games. Focus on concepts and application. 1️⃣2️⃣ What challenges did you face during preparation? Felicia: The overwhelming amount of content online. I used practice tests to identify weak areas and focus my efforts. 1️⃣3️⃣ How has this process helped your professional development? Felicia: It highlighted the importance of planning and preparation for smoother project execution. 1️⃣4️⃣ How did you stay motivated to prepare? Felicia: I studied late at night, used work hours for learning, and stayed motivated by focusing on advancing my career and improving my family’s future. Felicia’s Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Prioritize understanding concepts over memorization. 2️⃣ Practice with mock exams and focus on weak areas. 3️⃣ Manage your time effectively during both preparation and the exam. 4️⃣ People management is a critical area for success.
