This is a major announcement for T-Mobile, as it indicates its progressing to become the primary all-mode #communications supplier for both #consumers and #business users. Adding the Lumos Fiber assets for #Fiber #broadband connectivity enables T-Mobile and especially T-Mobile For Business to become a bundled provider of #mobile, #FWA over #5G, and #fiber #internet and #communications services. And while the acquired fiber assets are currently regional and in a relatively limited area, there is no doubt T-Mobile plans to invest to greatly expand the fiber infrastructure. Given T-Mobile's aggressive pricing and marketing, this a warning to Verizon and AT&T that T-Mobile is coming for their customers. #Uncarrier

As Hurricane #Milton approached #Florida, following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina, #TMobile and #Starlink are taking proactive steps to provide essential emergency communication services. Leveraging Non-Terrestrial Networks (#NTN) technology, they’ve activated a direct-to-cell service under special temporary permits from the FCC. This service includes Wireless Emergency Alerts (#WEA) and basic SMS texting, ensuring that residents in affected areas can text 911 and receive life-saving alerts, even when traditional cell towers are compromised. While this service isn’t the full commercial launch yet, it marks a significant milestone in T-Mobile and Starlink’s plan to eliminate mobile coverage gaps. By combining T-Mobile’s terrestrial mobile network with #Starlink’s low-Earth orbit (#LEO) satellites, they are addressing critical connectivity issues, especially in disaster-prone areas where infrastructure is vulnerable. This move follows an earlier trial in January when the first text messages were sent directly via satellites using standard smartphones. 🎯 This deployment, though temporary, allows both companies to test the resilience and effectiveness of their joint direct-to-cell service under real-world conditions. I fully agree with the benefits of having an independent spectrum and sharing the base stations/sites with AT&T. But FirstNet should have an independent Core for more resiliency.

It's devastating to see the damage caused by the California wildfires. T-Mobile is doing everything we can to help affected communities and first responders stay connected. A very functional document that I have used as the basis of a client's acceptance approach to WiFi solutions from vendors. It is important to remember that even expert hardware and software networked device manufacturers don't have it covered, and we used our approach to identify key design improvements that the hardware vendor then used in future designs, based off testing derived and enhanced from TR-398.
