IBM THINK is happening now in Boston…. Enterprise Customers are firmly supporting a number of key priories regarding AI. 1). TRUST is critical. Both the data used to train models and the governance used to ensure they act consistently in accordance with policies, intent and regulatory environments. 2) OPEN provides critical flexability to use the right model - for the right use-cases. 3) ECONOMICS matter - to go from pilot to production requires both a compelling aggregate business case and efficient inferencing unit-costs.

"The easy stuff has been done" A very powerful statement from a recent Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit. Whether that's around general cloud adoption, or more esoteric workload migration, it's pretty evident that the days of low effort / high reward activities are coming to a close. The degree of sophistication and expertise to support customers in their data journey increases exponentially - solution capability, consultative pedigree, business complexity, and industry nuance are all contributing to increase the demands on data solution providers. Having spent considerable time over the past four years working around legacy workload capability, increasingly focused on highly entrenched, highly fragile, and high cost implementations - mostly #mainframe and #ERP systems - there are no examples which spring to mind which better illustrate the end of the 'easy stuff' era. One additional attribute shared by these systems - beyond the abject in-house terror which appears any time anyone suggests even looking at these deployments in the wrong way - is the data gravity weight they carry. CSPs are accelerating the realization that winning a legacy workload migration & modernization is fundamental to success of the customer - these workloads are increasingly identified as 'must-win' opportunities, but that customer complexity outstrips native capability. I'm certainly seeing recognition within the solution space, with a number of individual ISVs beefing up capability, but more interestingly is the strategic relationships which are developing across the ISV+ISV or ISV+SI landscape. Recognizing the degree of specialised knowledge at the solution or execution level, I'm fully anticipating a surge in multi-vendor solution through 2024 and 2025 to meet the market demand.
