What do you do if feedback from customers is overwhelming and conflicting?
Having overwhelming and conflicting customer feedback is a red flag that the company might not be targeting the right customer and/or with the right tool. Understanding your target audience and your ideal customer profile is a critical part of your go-to-market strategy. I had a situation once where we were spending a lot of money targeting a group of solopreneurs. They would sign up for the free month (lots of leads, lots of new customers), but then could not install the software properly. Churn was close to 80%!! Our Customer Success team was spending all of their time trying to onboard free and low paying customers that would churn. And product was running around trying to fix it. The product was simply not a good fit for them.

What do you do if feedback from customers is overwhelming and conflicting?
Receiving feedback from customers is always helpful. But too much feedback, especially conflicting feedback, can lead to confusion, developing bespoke solutions, and lack of alignment, between product, marketing, sales and customer success. If your company has clear goals and are aligned with the short- and long-term go-to-market strategy, leveraging the feedback can be used to prioritize. By having a go-to-market strategy in place, companies can focus on the #1 goal. Every resource needs to be spent reaching that goal: revenue, expansion, raising funds, or an exit strategy. If the customer feedback aligns with the goal, it can move up the priority list. If not, it should be moved to the "parking lot" for future review.
