Congratulations to our True Global Ventures portfolio company Animoca Brands and team (Kenneth Shek Yat Siu Evan Auyang Jared Shaw Minh Do Alan Lau) with their US$23.9 million committed at 12x oversubscription on the MOCA Token Launch! 🌟 The total pre-deposited funds of US$29.3m was conducted on MocaList, a new co-branded token launchpad jointly launched by Mocaverse and CoinList. Access to the offering was gated by Moca ID, the MOCA Token Launch was the top-funded sale on CoinList so far in 2024, with participation by nearly 17,000 unique KYC-ed users from 123 different countries and record participation from the Mocaverse community. The MOCA Foundation serves as the platform to build the largest interoperable cultural economy in the Web3 space powered by the MOCA Token, and support the growth of Moca DAO, where members will take the lead in co-creating Migration Infrastructure Providers (MIPs) and engaging in cross-DAO empowerment through unique delegation models. The Securities and Exchange Commission has fined Tai Mo Shan Limited $123 million for reportedly misleading investors about the stability of the Terra USD stablecoin and conducting unregistered securities transactions involving LUNA crypto assets. According to the SEC statement, Jump Crypto Holdings subsidiary acted negligently when it engaged in trading activities that created a false impression about Terra USD's stability mechanism during a May 2021 price decline. The firm purchased over $20 million of UST tokens while receiving incentives from Terraform Labs, masking the fact that the stablecoin's dollar peg was being maintained through direct market intervention rather than its promised algorithmic mechanism. Within Southeast Asia - Singapore remains #1 in venture activity. Some really impressive achievements too: ✅ Close to 70% of deal value comes through the country. ✅ A top 5 global startup ecosystem ✅ $4.05B in value invested and counting And the ecosystem keeps getting stronger. Even amidst funding winter, government entities like Enterprise Singapore are still hard at work to provide support financially and strategically to startups. It’s all over the news recently and you can also spot many of these good folks at the recent Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) event. Some initiatives: 🔸 $440M in co-investment funds to attract private capital 🔸 ‘STAGE ONE' helping startups landing and launching from here 🔸 SG Growth Capital to be established combining EDBI Pte Ltd and SEEDS Capital What this means for startups here is more rocket fuel and guidance to succeed. Objectively, very convinced Singapore will continue to be a formidable player in the startup and innovation space. In part because I’ve seen the sheer host of activity and support provided over the years to aspiring founders and yet they continue to invest even more. They’ve spent time on the ground and these have inspired policy-level activities to seed our startup scene. It’s not enough for the region, but it can potentially kickstart more activity from its neighbours to build stronger capital structures throughout Southeast Asia. Proud to hail from here and run our operations from here too.
