People don’t realize what “closing skills” are in sales, and they’re not “is persuasive.” Reps with closing skills CONSISTENTLY know, can choreograph and advise on how the deal gets signed and returned. And their forecast accuracy reflects those skills.

I think sales leaderboards are genius for so many reasons. But I also don’t want to get hung up on the numbers. I think it’s easy to feel the urgency to up your numbers. But I feel like that’s how you get commission breath. I think about this a lot. And I just gotta trust that the urgency should be on the activities and not the numbers. The numbers are just a result of the activities. If I continue to: -Connect with more people through outreach -Ask inquisitive and purposeful questions -Seek to understand the person -Prioritize the relationship -Provide great service I see no other option but to believe that if I continue to do all of those things… ...everything will take care of itself. And I feel like this is true for everything and for every goal. Winners and losers have the same goals. It’s their habits and actions that differentiate them. It’s mastering the basics.

Step 4: Leverage results – Develop detailed customer success stories – Create buyer-specific ROI models – Facilitate peer-to-peer connections Nothing sells like results. Step 5: Offer interactive demos – Customize demos to each buyer – Provide self-service options – Give levers to pull for solving problems. Show, don't tell. Step 6: Continuous enablement – Regular training on industry trends – Role-playing difficult objections – Sharing best practices across teams Your buyers are your frontline. You (and your) reps are support. Step 7: Analyze and optimize – Track deal velocity metrics – Identify bottlenecks in the sales process – Continuously refine your enablement strategy What gets measured, gets improved. Why this works: – Aligns marketing and sales efforts – Addresses buyer concerns proactively – Builds trust through education and transparency The result? Faster sales cycles. Higher win rates. I have vivid memories sitting in a CRM training session over 20 years ago... I was starting my sales career as an entry level account manager at Procter & Gamble and we were rolling out Siebel CRM to our entire sales and marketing organization... CRM always existed, but this was the first time that we were "taking it digital" and there were a ton of skeptics within the organization... Our sales leader gave clear advice, "Get a little better each day as a salesperson by using this CRM software -- it will become part of your daily routine the more you weave it into your existing daily routine as a seller." 20 years later, this same advice holds true for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sales and marketing... Find a way to get a little bit better each day using AI...it may be a little weird at first, but it will eventually help you become more productive as a seller...
