    As Class President, I am responsible for obtaining information pertaining to the needs of my fellow classmates and taking those needs to the Executive Board of the Student Union. Within Student Union, I also head the Aesthetics Committee that is responsible for a campus-wide cleanup event called, "Beautify Loras" as well as other efforts to improve the campus.

    Activities and Societies: This online program covers the four overarching topics of data science, analytic methods, performance management and ethics, as well as five primary objectives: • Technology awareness & basic understanding of the applicability to a wide range of analytics scenarios • Introduction to data-science methods & techniques • Hands-on experience with multiple technologies, including R & Tableau • Ability to design & develop performance-management processes • Context for the ethics of business analysis

    This certificate program allowed me to obtain a broad sense of knowledge across several platforms of analytics. Being able to participate in the debuting of Loras' MBA Analytics course during the summer after my freshman year was very advantageous to my growth in my field and for my continued desire to grow further in knowledge and analytical applications.

After two days of intense data wrangling, analysis, and presentation design, our team presented our findings using no more than four slides to impress a panel of judges.

    DataFest is hosted by several of the most prestigious colleges and universities throughout the country. A key feature of ASA DataFest is that it brings together the data science community. My team of undergraduate students did the work all the work, but were were assisted by roving mentors who included Loras College faculty and industry professionals.

  • Francis J. Noonan Award Recipient

    Loras College Business Department

    Professor Frank Noonan taught business and economics courses at Loras College from 1947 until his retirement from full-time teaching in 1984. He continued to teach part-time in the Department of Economics until 1992. In 1984, many grateful alumni established a scholarship in his honor. Professor Noonan died in May 2004, but the legacy of his commitment to teaching, to students and to Loras College is well-remembered by those whose lives he touched.

    The Dr. Scholl Internship Away Scholarship helps fund students who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate in internships away from home or campus. I studied in Lisbon, Portugal during my spring semester of my junior year. Coming into Lisbon was an experience like none other, but being able to have an internship where I worked with the dedicated and passion people was an added benefit. Through my internship I had a firsthand account of the people and culture of Portugal. While at my internship with the organization “Muita Fruta” I was able to help raise awareness and educate the Portuguese people about the benefits of creating a sustainable city. It is important to understand that there are countless fruit trees throughout the city of Lisbon and while at “Muita Fruta” I saw how important these small beauties that are scattered around the city mean to the people. Through this internship, I was able to experience a new culture, instead of looking from the outside in, I was actually part of the cause for working to better the city of Lisbon in anyway that I could.
