“I initially had the good fortune of meeting Brian when I was just cutting my teeth in PR. I sat across from him at LaunchSquad and eagerly listened and watched as he pulled media rabbits out of hats. He had no fear, casually calling up a journalist at the NYT or WSJ to pitch a client story. We worked together for about 4 years, and during that time, I learned so much from Brian. He is an incredible teacher, thoughtful media relations professional, and superb communicator. He's also about the easiest person on the planet to talk to and get along with. I always felt like I could go to Brian with a dilemma -- work or professional -- and he'd guide me through it. Fast forward to 2024, when Brian supported my own agency, Megawatt, by taking on a sales and bizdev role to help us get more meetings with qualified prospects. In very little time, Brian managed to introduce me to several decision makers at dream client companies. He translated his comms and PR skills to sales work without hesitation or hiccup. I would highly recommend Brian to anyone looking for media, communications, or business development support. It's like he's ready every "How to Win Friends and Influence People" book out there, except it's just his personality. He's likable, smart, funny, kind, and easygoing. He's able to put himself in other people's shoes in such a genuine way (you really truly don't meet many people like this). He's a wonderful manager, teammate, and friend. TL;DR Having Brian on your team is an X factor that will multiply the efforts of everyone around him.”

How can you excel in media relations and PR?
A key element in media relations is to remember the human factor in today's AI-driven world. PR professionals are sending news ideas to other people and not bots. I recommend that PR people shouldn't send an email or a pitch to a reporter if they themselves wouldn't write that story, respond to that email or whatever else the CTA may be. After all, how can we expect a reporter to answer our emails, if we ourselves wouldn't?
