I run a food & travel Instagram called @thehungrylonghorn and because I have 62.5k followers, brands outside those 2 niches are often interested in working together. Recently, I did work for AMLI Residential which is an apartment complex, yet the video I put out saw tremendous success: 71.5k views and 1.7k likes. How? As a creator, it's important that the content I put out remain relevant to not just my clients, but my followers as well and so the mission here was simple: Provide my followers with a list of 10 things to do in the neighborhood from restaurants to eat at to activities you can partake in where we then plugged in the pitch to sign a lease at the complex at the end of the video. This accomplishes 2 things: 1) Puts an emphasis on the neighborhood and less about the apartment itself. The goal here was to entice potential move-ins to visit the website because if you like the neighborhood then you would be curious to then see what amenities and apartment styles the complex has to offer. 2) Provides value to my followers who aren't in the market for a lease that this area of town has a lot to offer that you can partake in whether you're a resident or not In conclusion - I leave you with this: not every influencer/endorser has to remain 100% relevant to the industry your product/service is in. With some brainstorming, you can tie 2 industries together a lot more than you think! A key takeaway from the Dallas Small Business Expo last week: An avoidable pitfall I see in so many small and growing businesses is not investing in ownable, iconic, memorable branding... They try to bridge every single communication path with a business card, logo, or marketing material. What ends up happening is that with so much information being presented, none of it gets remembered! The tables of business cards blended into a sea of gradients, textures, and overly complex logos. Unfortunately, the cards that stood out were those of global corporations that properly invested in their own identity. The most powerful thing a growing business can do isn’t to vomit all of their history and services on a card or pamphlet. As we wrap up this month, it's time for another video! Texas heat is here 🔥 , and so are our numbers! We're already halfway through the year, and here are some quick reminders.   1. Don’t sit in the background! Time kills all deals. From the get-go, be super responsive and maintain a sense of urgency.   2.  Understand the internal decision-making process. When selling a new deal, even to an existing customer, don't assume you know, always ask, "Who is paying for this? What does the internal decision-making process look like?"   3. Don’t rely solely on relationships. You have to sell value. Yes, people buy from those they trust and like, but you must prove value and show that your solution solves a business problem. At the end of the day, buyers need to show their internal stakeholders ROI, and liking alone won't cut it:-)   4.  Work hard for your customers. It’s a competitive differentiator. Customers want to work with reps who will take care of them and work diligently to help them solve business problems.   5. Advocate for your customers. You are the voice of your customers within your organization. Make sure their voice is heard.   6. If someone is asking for a steep discount, show them why you can't do that. Be human. No customer wants to be unfair. Honest, human conversations help build trust. #sales; #quota, #deals

Recently I connected with someone who shared his own powerful story with me on my Biz Bites podcast. 👉🏻 Jay Maymi has his own radio show in Texas, so we fed off one another with ease, with my background in radio as well. We covered a range of topics, though there was a common theme. What struck me was how a decision he made early on in life set him on a career path that involved inspiring others.  The full story of his upbringing is in the podcast episode, but it led to a discussion about how often what we hear about is more on the negative side. The news is filled with stories of people making wrong decisions, but that is not where we should focus. It’s easy to just be like what we think society expects of us. 🔑 This principle applies in business as much as it does personally; we just fall upon the ‘general’ tasks and behave like the majority of influencers around us. Have you had the courage to stop and do things differently? What if you were in touch with your real purpose and what your ‘gift’ is?  What if you knew there was something you were meant to be doing because you can do it better than most, it comes naturally to you. But then, what if you don’t act on it, or… What if you do, but you don’t tell everyone about it regularly?
