NADA dealers plot state-by-state challenge to Scout Motors Inc. direct sales. (How dare they sell Scout Motors!) 👀 The NADA and state dealer associations across the country plan to leave no stone unturned as they push back against Scout Motors' nasty decision to bypass Volkswagen stores. (In the vast majority of states, the OEMs are not permitted to sell direct or compete with their dealers with products aimed specifically at U.S. consumers.) 🚗 Its corporate structure and formal attachment to VW Group could be a challenge in its quest to sell direct to a consumer. It’s no secret auto dealer terminology is hard to follow. But learning the basics of dealer-speak is key to picking the right vehicle — and snagging a great deal ;) So allow us to clear up a few key terms: - Acquisition Fee: This is the amount a dealer charges to initiate a lease. It usually covers the costs of processing the lease — such as credit reports and insurance verification. - Up-Front Costs: This is the total of all costs you must pay when you sign the contract for your vehicle. It includes the downpayment and any additional fees. - Buyout Price: This is how much it will cost to purchase a vehicle at the end of the lease term. - Residual Value: The estimated value of a vehicle once it’s returned at the end of the lease term. - Dealer Holdback: This is a small percentage of a vehicle’s overall cost that a manufacturer returns to the dealership once the car is sold. - Trade-in Value: The amount a dealership will pay for your current vehicle when selling you a new one. There are many aspects to EVs that don't align with traditional auto transport. They weigh on average 20% more than standard vehicles. If they discharge or fall below operating charge, how do you get them off the trailer? Even if you have a charger at destination, you are still delaying the carrier from other deliveries. Some auto haul insurers are charging for an "EV' rider due to runaway fires. Shippers should absolutely expect to pay more to transport these.

When the range is equal to or above a gas vehicle there will be more adoption. Battery charge needs to be between 20-80% as recommended for battery health over time. If your EV has 300 miles of range at full charge you actually have 240 miles (80%) to 60 miles (20%) which nets 180 miles of range... EV's really need to have 600 miles OR MORE of range at full charge to be comparable to gas and/or hybrid models. EV's provide a phenomenal driving experience, but a lot of hassle right now with range anxiety and charging infrastructure. Price is no longer a barrier (checkout the used Tesla's)
