Why isn't your affiliate program working? I'm Alex. I run the PartnerShip podcast over at Siren Affiliates. Let's dig into the issues I see when people ask this question. 1. You're obsessed with quantity. In most affiliate programs, about 20% of the affiliates in the program actually generate sales. This is because most people simply aren't a good fit for their brand. Instead of focusing on growth, find common themes that makes the 20% work. 2. You're not selling your own product. An affiliate program is a multiplier, not a generator. If you're not generating sales for your own product, an affiliate definitely won't be able to. Make sure your funnel is built, and you're generating sales without a program first. 3. Your Program Is Too Generic. A generic "affiliate program" might not be enough for your business. Spend some time thinking about the specific avatar for your ideal partner, and tailor your affiliate program to their needs with offers that only make sense for their avatar. 4. Your product positioning is weak. Create hyper-specific use-case funnels for your products. This helps you position your brand, and gives the right affiliates an easy path to sell those items. 5. You're not supporting your affiliates You should regularly be in-touch with your affiliates. Give them assistance. Let them know about changes in your brand, and promotions. tl;dr: Finding external advocates for your product is one of the most foolproof ways to build developer trust. If you’re generous enough with your incentives, loyal customers don’t just become endorsers — they become revenue-generating machines. Your biggest fans could be generating 10% of your revenue. At ScraperAPI, our affiliate program did just that by converting loyal users into top salespeople. Here’s how we spotted the opportunity: We realized that a lot of our customers would outsource web scraping tasks to freelance software engineers who would use the same tool over and over again for different companies. That left us with a great opportunity to build relationships with those freelancers who had the potential to bring us more and more new customers over time. Here’s how we did it in practice: It’s super simple. We offered killer incentives to everyone involved: -25% recurring commissions for affiliates -10% first-month discount for the new customers they referred Because our product was well-designed and easy to use, freelancers were happy to recommend us over and over again.

Unlocking hidden value should be a priority- and a bundle that gives you internet, mobile, and content packaged at a low price should be irresistible and compelling in the way Prime and to a lesser extent Walmart+ are.

Tumblr is launching its “Communities” feature in open beta, the Tumblr Labs division has announced. The feature offers a dedicated space for users to connect with others on different topics, outside of Tumblr’s main dashboard. The open beta comes six months after Communities launched in closed beta and represents a shift in focus for the social platform under its new parent company Automattic, the makers of WordPress, Tumblr’s Communities are “semi-private” spaces that have their own moderators, rules, and privacy settings. The feature is somewhat similar to subreddits on Reddit, Inc. and Communities on X (formerly) both of which are now training grounds for AI. Tumblr began testing Communities after it heard from users that they wanted better ways to connect with other people who share similar interests.
