Sony has filed a patent for a new ‘Super-Fungible Token’ (SFT) that could alter how gamers own and trade in-game assets. Two basic questions: ⁉️ What’s an SFT? Basically, it would allow gamers to own a bundle of NFTs (in-game assets). ⁉️ Why SFTs? Good question—since it’s such early days, it isn’t entirely clear how it could be used, but it seems to simplify owning, purchasing and selling of NFTs as you can bundle multiple into one SFT. To me, it seems to be a bet by Sony that NFTs will be a big part of future gaming and they’re preparing the way for them to be more functional.

Interesting use case of tokenisation from Amazon marketplace, launched at SFF. Typically Amazon Marketplace sellers receive payments every 14 days, but it can stretch to 90 days under certain circumstances. These sellers account for the majority of Amazon sales. The simulation involved tokenizing these receivables and placing them on an exchange where lenders can buy them at a small discount. This kind of tokenized trade finance would allow the marketplace sellers to receive money faster. StraitsX XSGD stablecoin wrapped as Purpose Bound Money (PBM). 🇦🇪🇸🇦🇶🇦 In the final piece of our token use cases series, we highlight how the Middle East's proactive regulatory approach demonstrates that localized efforts and strong public - private partnerships can drive global progress. The Middle East, particularly Dubai, continues to set the pace in global blockchain innovation. It serves as a prime example of how optimism and collaboration between public and private sectors can drive transformative progress. This approach is laying the groundwork for significant advancements in blockchain and Web3, with clear regulatory frameworks that attract institutional interest and accelerate mainstream adoption. We explore how countries like the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are leading the way with comprehensive regulatory frameworks and practical use cases in stablecoins, DeFi, and payments. These frameworks are giving institutions the clarity they need to innovate, scale, and lead in areas like e-commerce, gaming, and AI. At Decasonic, we see the Middle East as a pivotal player in the next wave of blockchain adoption, setting standards that other regions can learn from and adapt.
