Projects

  • Implementing K-Nearest Neighbors Algorithm on CIFAR-10 Dataset for Image Classification.

Implemented machine learning algorithms (PCA and K-Nearest Neighbors Algorithm) on CIFAR-10 Dataset for Image Classification, as a part of pre-requisite for the CSCI-599 Deep Learning and Its Applications course for the Fall 2017 term at USC.

  • Targeted Style Transfer using Mask-RCNN

    -

    • Implemented a model to achieve neural style transfer to different object instances in an image.

    • Trained a Mask-RCNN(Resnet101+FPN) on MS-COCO dataset to achieve instance-aware semantic segmentation.

    • Leveraged CNNs to achieve style transfer onto the selected object instances, based on the semantic masks obtained from
the Mask-RCNN.

  • Implementing and Comparing performance of Deep Neural Networks and Convolutional Neural Networks

    -

    • Implemented a basic multi-layer fully connected neural network for image classification on the CIFAR-10 dataset.

    • Designed and trained a Convolutional Neural Network in Tensorflow on the same dataset.

    • Trained a model on Fashion MNIST dataset and then fine-tuned it by training on MNIST dataset to avoid overfitting.

    • Visualized the learned convolutional filters & activation maps for pre-trained AlexNet and VGG-16 Net using Grad-CAM.

    See project
  • Measuring Likelihood of an event using Bayesian Networks

    -

Calculated the specific joint, marginal, or conditional probability for given events and also the expected utility for a particular decision.

    See project
  • Wedding seating arrangement subject to given Constraint Satisfaction Problem

    -

Translated the input to CNF sentences and implemented a SAT solver to find the satisfying assignments and
manipulated sophisticated AI algorithms such as PL-Resoultion, WalkSAT, DPLL, etc. to achieve the result.

  • Predicting the next best move in a game of Reversi

    -

Leveraged Alpha-Beta Pruning algorithm to obtain the minimax value for a given positions in a game of Reversi and determined the next best move for the current player based on the values obtained.

  • Inclusive Government Policy Formation via Opinion analysis of live Twitter feed with Sarcasm Detection.

    -

    • Gauged public emotion regarding new governmental laws/rulings, marketing policies, product reviews, etc.

• Analyzed the live twitter feed to predict the opinion/sentiment of the public, using the concepts of ML, AI and statistics.
    • Incorporated Sarcasm Detection to correctly identify the meaning of a sarcastic statement.

  • Anti Reverse Engineering Techniques

    -

    • Basic motive behind this project for Defense Research and Development Organization(D.R.D.O.), India, was to make the software made for defense purposes impregnable against harmful attacks and reverse engineering techniques from being applied on them.
    • Achieved this using the knowledge of Break-point Analysis and other techniques employed by Reverse Engineers.

  • Optimized implementation of RSA Algorithm

    -

    • Leveraged various mathematical techniques and algorithms like Jayadev Misra - David Gries Sieve for pre-computation of prime numbers, Primality Testing, Euclid’s GCD algorithm, Binary Exponentiation (Fast Exponentiation) to achieve overall optimization.
    • Achieved a speed up factor of about 100 against the traditional approach.

  • Measure of Drug Feasibility using Parallel Programming

    -

    • Developed parallel programming algorithm to measure drug feasibility in curing a particular viral disease by processing tissue matrix of the infected area.
    • Leveraged the power of the GPU to perform computation on different divisions of the tissue.
    • Achieved a speedup of 10 times against serial program on CPU.

  • Converting colored image to grayscale using Parallel Programming

    -

    • Implemented Parallel Programming for changing a colored image to grayscale on the GPU using CUDA C++.
    • Performed the transformation by assigning one processor to each pixel.
    • Achieved a speedup factor of about 200 against serial program on CPU.
