Khayelitsha is Cape Town’s largest and fastest growing township and is experiencing mass poverty with many of its residents living in shacks with no electricity or running water.

The nursery in Khayelitsha is an essential resource where parents leave their children, from as young as four months, at 5am while they go to Cape Town and find work. However, conditions are unsafe and with only three rooms and one table for the children to use at the center the children are vulnerable and at risk.

The FIFA World Cup visited the country in 2010 and significant investment was made in the major cities and sporting venues but many of the country’s other townships off the main commuting roads have been neglected.
