As a dad, reading about the challenges working moms face in balancing work and life hits close to home. A recent survey by yes123 Job Bank revealed that a staggering 94% of working moms feel they can't juggle both family and career, with 70% finding the workplace unfriendly. It's no wonder that 85.4% have considered becoming full-time moms. The survey also delved into the salary expectations of full-time moms if their role was considered a job. Results varied, but the average hovered around NT$51,156 per month, akin to a mid-level managerial position. What's even more concerning is that 70% of respondents feel that Taiwan's workplace environment is unsupportive towards working moms. Many have faced unequal treatment and career setbacks due to their motherhood status, with 93.4% considering changing jobs because of it. It's crucial for us as a society to support working moms better, both at home and in the workplace. [Monthly People Reporter Yoo Ji-yeon] With the number of diabetes patients in Korea exceeding 6 million, according to an in-depth report on diabetes management indicators based on the National Health and Nutrition Survey of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the treatment rate and recognition rate are significantly lower for those in their 30s and 40s. According to the data presented by the Korean Diabetes Association in 2020, about 15.83 million people in the pre-diabetes stage, which is at high risk of developing diabetes, were at the level of fasting blood glucose or glycated hemoglobin. CEO Im of HealthiBuddy Co., Ltd. has established a service that helps people manage frequent diabetes without difficulty and form natural habits in their daily lives. 'HealthiBuddy', a comprehensive service platform that helps form lifelong health habits and prevents diabetes and diabetes complications Based on the participants' blood test results, body composition index, continuous glucose data, their lifestyle analysis, HealthiBuddy's internal medicine and rehabilitation medicine specialists and clinical nutritionists guided and improved their lifestyle habits, followed by analysis and coaching according to the improvement goals. Participants who have a high possibility of developing diabetes were attached with a blood sugar measurement sensor and measured blood sugar for 24 hours in a row. Based on the recorded data, it was well received by providing optimal solutions for each individual with experts in the stages of lifestyle analysis, formation and improvement of lifestyle habits and post-war comparison. The results showed that the health of 19 out of 21 people improved, with average blood sugar decreasing by up to 42 mg/dL, and participants were able to visually check blood sugar changes through the HealthiBuddy app and gradually apply blood sugar healthy diet and physical activities in the lives of individuals with diabetes through continuous conversations with dedicated buddies. He also expressed his feelings that he was able to improve his eating habits in a direction suitable for the individual's situation and find vitality by using appropriate exercise habits. Diabetes can start with mild symptoms and be considered insignificant at first, but it is also a chronic metabolic disease that requires constant management because various complications can occur. CEO Im and others focused on learning blood glucose health by users themselves in the form of lifelong habits that add small habits to the life patterns of people suffering from diabetes. "I thought about how to approach blood sugar management, would be life-long effective. Constant communication and support with experts is also an enormous driving force that continues to achieve the goal. Industrial & Manufacturing 3. Life Sciences & Healthcare These sectors should be the focus of dedicated teams whose headcounts are maintained regardless of market conditions or team performance. If companies wait for these teams to regain productivity or for the market to rebound, it is often too late. The team may lose momentum and motivation, leading to cultural shifts, employee turnover, and losing placements to competitors with fully staffed teams. I have witnessed this issue firsthand. In one instance, a team within a previous business I was a part of was performing exceptionally well. However, after a few tough months due to market conditions and the departure of a few top billers, they were not replaced. Over the next year, the team's performance deteriorated significantly, eventually becoming one of the worst-performing teams in the business. Loyal clients lost faith and turned to competitors, causing long-term damage. The key lesson here is to keep your essential teams strong and prevent them from fading away. I have been selected for the Overseas Program Phase of the Local to Global Success course (pre-startup and Asia course) and traveled to Singapore from November 24 to 29. https://lnkd.in/gQf8wGwX During my trip, I was given a day and a half to conduct customer interviews and survey local needs. With the cooperation of many people, I was able to spend a very productive time. I would like to leave a summary before my passion cools down. Day 1: I thought it would be better to actually show the product on site, so I hurriedly created an MVP with the help of other members on Day 1. This was great. Day2: I had a chance to talk with the people in charge of the Singapore Cancer Society, MOH, and other key organizations for future business development, and we discussed the differences in systems from Japan and points to keep in mind when conducting business, which was very helpful. I would like to cherish this relationship after this visit. Day3: I was able to discuss with people who are doing business locally and get practical advice. Day4: I had the opportunity to speak at a local networking event and give a pitch in English. It was great to have participants who shared their experiences with me, saying they empathized with me. Despite improvements, challenges like maintaining fertility rates and addressing rapid population aging remain. Emphasis on reproductive and sexual health services is crucial. 2. Vietnam Labor Market H1 2024 Positive trends with increased employment and salary growth. The proportion of workers with degrees rose to 28.1% in Q2 2024. However, the unemployment rate among the working-age population increased in Q2 2024. 3. USAID Supports HIV Drug Delivery Vietnam’s Ministry of Health approved contracts for TLD, a superior HIV treatment drug. USAID guided over 300 health facilities, resulting in contracts for 55,000 bottles of TLD, ensuring continued patient care. 4. #Taiwan #healthcare: #SeniorCitizen at heart During my visit to a general hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, I had the opportunity to experience Taiwan's public healthcare system firsthand. One aspect that particularly stood out was the thoughtful approach to dispensing medication, especially for senior citizens. The instructions provided were meticulously designed with seniors in mind. They included clear guidance on how to take the medicine, specifying the frequency—whether once, twice, or thrice daily— and the exact timing, such as morning, afternoon, or evening. Additionally, these instructions were supplemented with intuitive pictorial representations, making it significantly easier for elderly patients to understand and adhere to their prescribed regimen. This level of attention to detail reflects the commendable inclusivity and accessibility of Taiwan’s healthcare services. As of June 2024, Taiwan's population aged 65 and over was approximately 4.39 million, constituting about 18.76% of the total population. This marks an increase from 2023, when the proportion was around 18.4%. Projections indicate that by 2025, Taiwan will become a "super-aged" society, with over 20% of its population aged 65 and above. 🌍 Success Story from Taiwan's Health Promotion Administration (HPA) 🌍 The INHPF is proud to share an outstanding success story from one of our full members, the Health Promotion Administration (HPA) of Taiwan. Their innovative health initiatives have significantly improved maternal and newborn health, showcasing the power of effective health promotion. 🍼 Expanded Prenatal Examination Services Since July 1, 2021, Taiwan's HPA has expanded subsidies for prenatal examinations, offering comprehensive screenings for gestational diabetes, anemia, and more. Routine prenatal tests are now a cornerstone of maternal care, helping to keep the mother and the baby healthy and fully supported during pregnancy. 📈 High Utilization Rates of Prenatal Services From 2016 to 2022, the utilization rates of prenatal preventive services have consistently been above 95%. This high rate underscores the program’s effectiveness and acceptance, with up to 99.0% utilization in some years. 👶 Comprehensive Care for High-Risk Pregnancies Launched nationwide in 2022, the program targets high-risk pregnant women and infants, addressing factors like lack of prenatal exams, substance use, and socio-economic challenges. The program boasts a 98.8% quit rate for tobacco and alcohol users and ensures 98.3% of women attend at least four prenatal checks. 🤝 Perinatal Care Network Program This program forms a robust network to support pregnant women with health or socio-economic risks, providing tailored follow-up care and health education.
