Ramsu Sundararajan: Segment of One at Scale Ramasubramanian (Ramsu) Sundararajan holds a PhD in Machine Learning, and is the Head of R&D at solus.ai, which powers Segment of One personalization. Roles prior to that included Senior Scientist at GE Global Research, and Principal at Sabre Airline Solutions, where he developed some of the original algorithms. Ramsu shares highlights of his journey in AI, with particular focus on personalization in marketing, with insights about how to think about that problem conceptually, including what parts are somewhat easy and which are difficult or tedious. There are also key insights about customer journeys and about the cold start problem. Other topics covered include customer genomes, as well as a discussion about navigating between decisions taken at a zoomed-in perspective at the individual customer record level, while also managing to a zoomed-out perspective that’s driven by KPIs, comps and annual targets. A preview or our upcoming article on Integrating #ResponsibleAI practices into #LLMOps (in collaboration with Dipta Chakraborty, Soumya Talukder, Dipojjwal Ghosh, Bhargav Mitra, Anindito De) While we see growing adoption of both LLMOps & Responsible AI practices in our #GenAI implementations, the discussions are often occurring in different communities with a big disconnect between the checklists and their downstream implementation / tooling. In this article, we aim to bring the two frameworks together with a unified approach to deploying #LLM use-cases in a scalable & responsible fashion. Extended Abstract. We see growing excitement about #LargeLanguageModels (LLMs) and their potential to disrupt enterprise use-cases. However, this exploration is mostly limited to Proof-of-Concepts (#POCs) at this stage. To truly scale Gen AI use-cases in the enterprise, there is a need to establish a scalable LLM platform with LLMOps capabilities and the right level of LLM #Governance. In this era, we see heightened emphasis are given to use AI component responsibly as it has been witnessed that LLMs can provide #toxic, biased, sexual and violent content if it’s not used responsibly. Sometimes it has been also seen that LLMs are providing #biased and misguided responses. To mitigate the issues, it is utmost important  that we use LLMs responsibly. In this article, we introduce LLMOps and deep dive into the relevant LLMOps #architecturalpatterns. We consider the different Responsible AI dimensions in terms of Data Quality, Data #Privacy, Reproducibility and #Explainability to enable a well governed LLM Platform. We highlight LLM specific issues and propose solution approaches to establish an integrated LLMOps platform governed by Responsible AI practices – leading to the establishment of a Gen AI #CoE delivering strategic enterprise use-cases at scale. An extremely impactful article by our CEO Khadim Batti around the imperative of userization and how it needs to be on every CIO's agenda. Enterprises spend huge on technology - in fact, Gartner estimates that the tech spend in 2025 will hit $5.74 trillion globally, a 9.3% increase from 2024. That is no shock, given the evolution in AI, and sprouting of emerging technologies aiming to drive productivity and increase efficiencies in enterprise operations. But, with such huge outlays, are users really using these technologies? How much of these are underutilized and wasted? The answer: a lot. - 70% of digital transformation efforts fail due to insufficient user engagement (Gartner) - 37% of sales representatives actively use their company’s CRM system, indicating a significant gap between employees and the tools designed to assist them (Salesforce) - inadequate AI skills account for at least 33% of the hurdles employees face in fully utilizing AI tools (IBM) That is exactly why userization needs to be prioritized, to ensure a tech ecosystem where the user experience is at the forefront. I highly urge all leaders, particularly product owners to think about these few questions: 1. What is the adoption rate/utilization of my application(s) 2. How are my users interacting with the application 3. What are some of the friction points in user journeys 4. What could be some of the reasons for lower adoption in certain applications 5. Do we provide contextualized, personalized guidance/training to different segments of users 6. Are we able to measure the impact of these applications from a business standpoint and how it drives key business outcomes (just think of revenue, cost, risk/compliance, brand) If you aren't sure about the answers to these questions, or find yourself getting stuck, I think it's really a signal to you to start thinking about the importance of userization.
