🌎 The #XPRIZECarbonRemoval team recently traveled to Guangdong province, China for an inspiring site visit at Yuanchu’s facility, a finalist team pioneering a novel approach to carbon removal called “Direct Air Mineralization.” Yuanchu's innovative solution offers a simpler, cost-effective alternative to traditional direct air capture by using industrial byproducts often destined for landfills, to remove CO2 from the air. Once removed, the CO2 mineralizes the industrial byproducts, converting it into calcium carbonate. XPRIZE EVP, Biodiversity + Conservation Peter Houlihan recently attended the “From Singapore to the Amazon: Breakthroughs in Rainforest Conservation Through XPRIZE” event at the Singapore Pavilion during #COP29. Houlihan discussed the #XPRIZERainforest competition and XPRIZE's Biodiversity Impact Partnership with the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions. He was joined by XPRIZE Rainforest judge and Associate Professor Adrian Loo and XPRIZE Rainforest Advisory Board Member Dr. Carlos A. Nobre.
