Today the Senate voted 67 to 32 to confirm the former one-term Republican Congresswoman from Oregon Lori Chavez-DeRemer as the new Secretary of the Department of Labor. This vote was among the stronger showings of bipartisan support for one of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees. She is one of eight women out of 22 Cabinet nominees in this administration. Chavez-DeRemer was one of the president’s more unconventional picks because of her pro-labor voting record. Some Republicans criticized her for supporting the PRO Act, a bill that would have repealed state laws that allow workers to choose whether to opt into a union and pay dues. She will be in a tough spot given her record running counter to the executive orders and priorities of the President. Women's digital health access and utilization impacting the workforce and workplace policies driving use/misuse of digital health tools is something we will be tracking in the coming months. #womenshealth #digitalhealth

Our very own co-founder Bethany Corbin written a book on all things FemTech! Check it out!
Women's Health Ecosystem Builder | Femtech Lawyer | Co-Founder & CEO, FemInnovation | Keynote Speaker | Co-Founder, Women's Digital Health Network | FemInnovation Podcast Host
🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨 I’ve been quiet on LinkedIn lately, but for a good reason… I’ve been writing a book! And I’m thrilled to finally share that Femtech Revolution is officially available for pre-order! 🎉📖 💡 What is Femtech Revolution? It’s your guide to navigating the world of femtech and health tech safely, giving you the tools to make informed decisions about the innovations shaping women’s health. From period tracking apps to cardiovascular tech and digital health solutions, this book helps consumers separate hype from reality and use femtech with confidence, especially in a post-Roe era. In the book you'll also find my SAFE framework for helping you evaluate and vet the tech you use for healthcare. You'll also find recommendations for how to get your doctor to take your femtech data seriously. But this book is more than just a guide—it’s part of a bigger shift in my focus. The funding and political landscapes for femtech are challenging right now, making it harder for companies to bring groundbreaking solutions to market. If we want real change, consumers need to lead this revolution. When people are informed, they can demand better products, hold companies accountable, and push for the innovations we actually need. That’s why Femtech Revolution isn’t just about what’s out there—it’s about empowering consumers to drive the future of women’s health. If you care about the future of women’s health, this book is for you. Pre-order now (links in the comments) and be part of the movement! I'm so excited (and nervous!) to bring this into the world and so grateful for my incredible publishing and editing team! On January 7, 2025, the FDA issued a draft guidance called Considerations for the Use of Artificial Intelligence to Support Regulatory Decision-Making for Drug and Biological Products (https://lnkd.in/dWd9s5gt). The document clarifies how sponsors, manufacturers, and other industry developers should approach artificial intelligence (AI) to support safe, effective development and marketing of AI-based tools. The FDA seeks public comment on this draft guidance until April 7, 2025. If finalized, this guidance would be the first of its kind to incorporate comprehensive guidance and recommendations for the design, development, documentation, and maintenance of these AI models. On January 23, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order entitled “Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence,” affirming the administration’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing America’s global AI dominance (https://lnkd.in/gxWB3KW7). Trump also rescinded the prior Biden Administration executive order on AI (EO 14110) and called for review of Biden-era AI policies, directives, regulations, orders, and other actions to identify any actions taken pursuant to the now rescinded executive order that may act as a barrier to AI innovation and for such actions to be addressed. We will see what comes next but for now the comment period is open until April 7. See great Goodwin article here: https://lnkd.in/gXVHCxKq

Closing The Women’s Health Gap The World Economic Forum released the "Blueprint to Close the Women's Health Gap: How to Improve Lives and Economies for All." It highlights the urgent need to address the significant health inequities women face globally. The report emphasizes that women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men, leading to a substantial loss of 75 million years of life annually due to poor health or early death. Key takeaways from the report include: 💥 The need for better data collection and standards to understand women's health comprehensively. Increased research funding and focus on women's health, including sex-disaggregated analysis. 💥 Improved clinical practice guidelines and healthcare delivery systems tailored to women's needs. Addressing health disparities and promoting global health equity. 💥 Increased investment in women's health, from clinical research to social support services. The report also highlights nine conditions that significantly contribute to the women's health gap: 💥 Lifespan Conditions: Ischaemic heart disease, cervical cancer, breast cancer, maternal hypertensive disorder, and postpartum haemorrhage. 💥 Health-span Conditions: Premenstrual syndrome, menopause, endometriosis, and migraines. 👉 To read the full report, see the comments for the link. #womenshealth #genderequality #healthinnovation
