As we conclude Engineers Week, we are pleased to highlight one of our Central Coast projects in the City of Atascadero. Revitalizing the El Camino Real corridor from a 4-lane roadway, through the downtown, to a 2-lane “Main Street” for the events and businesses in the downtown. This project creates space with a “sense of place” for street events, improved safety with accentuated crosswalks and lighting, increases parking for businesses, and includes beautiful new landscape and streetscape features. This work will be transformative for downtown Atascadero and is just one example of the Wallace Group team of engineers' positive impact on the community. Wallace Group is proud to support the City of SLO as the Engineer of Record for the Mid-Higuera Bypass flood control and creek restoration project, providing the alternatives analysis and preliminary design through to the construction documents. Wallace Group Senior Civil Engineer Valerie Huff led the project team, which included Padre Associates, Inc., Yeh and Associates, Inc., Hunter Smith Architecture, and CONSOR Engineers. We also provided engineering support for the Prop. One Grant that funded construction. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this project on our treasured downtown!

Wallace Group is proud to have provided grant writing assistance to the County of Monterey and the Pajaro County Sanitation District to support this historic grant. Totaling over $4 million, the grant represents California's second-largest water disaster investment. We look forward to seeing the community benefit from essential wastewater infrastructure upgrades supported by this investment.

Recently, Judkins Middle School welcomed Wallace Group's Principal and Director of Mechanical Engineering, Bryan Childress, to their AVID classroom. An Arroyo Grande resident, Bryan enjoyed challenging students with several engineering skill tests and sharing a few highlights from his career. We thank the students and school for their engagement and for allowing us to participate in the educational experience!
