  • “It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.” Yogi Berra's wisdom rings especially true for corporate energy buyers with virtual power purchase agreements (vPPAs). If you’re in that boat, your last invoice for 2024 might have been a shock! So how did we get here—and what can you do about it? Verse co-founder & CCO Matt Penfold and VP of Strategy Shehzad Wadalawala break it all down in our latest blog. You’ll learn: • Why vPPAs are fundamentally a bet on the price of power • Why staying on top of new market data is so crucial • How emulating the “march of the penguins” can help keep your forecasts fresh Be sure to play around with the interactive chart showcasing around-the-clock (ATC) electricity prices across the U.S. over the past five years (ERCOT in February 2021 shows winter storm Yuri's effect on market prices -- it was a doozy!). Ready to take control of your clean energy portfolio? Check out the full blog here and explore the data for yourself. https://bit.ly/4bdZfNf #RenewableEnergy #VPPA #PPA #Energy #Sustainability

The European Banking Authority recently released its final guidelines on the management of ESG risks. The guidelines "set out requirements for institutions for the identification, measurement, management and monitoring of ESG risks, including through plans aimed at addressing the risks arising from the transition towards an EU climate-neutral economy." This is just the latest example of evolving rules and guidance from regions, states, countries, and institutions that will impact how companies manage and report on sustainability -- including clean energy and carbon-related -- risks. https://lnkd.in/dmqiVkAc #ESG #sustainability #risk #cleanenergy

Had an insightful discussion with Cody Simms for his Inevitable Podcast last year, delving into Verse's inception, virtual PPAs, and the pivotal role of data in pricing and forecasting clean energy performance. We explored three key trends propelling the necessity for solutions like ours: 1. A surge in environmentally conscious buyers seeking to comprehend and manage the emissions associated with their electricity consumption. 2. The fluctuating prices of renewables necessitate better cost control for businesses heavily reliant on electricity. 3. Anticipated exponential growth in electric demand, with U.S. load growth projections spiking by nearly 100% in a single year. Listen to the full podcast for more insights and feel free to share your questions or thoughts! Thanks again to Cody Simms and the entire MCJ team for supporting Verse and our mission.

Excited to share a new technical deep-dive from our engineering team! 🚀 Abhishek Malik, a member of our software engineering team, just published an insightful article on Medium detailing how we tackle IAM-based authentication to enable secure database access. The post offers a practical guide for developers looking to streamline their authentication workflows while maintaining robust security. As we build advanced software to help customers solve complex energy challenges, security and scalability are top priorities. Abhishek's article showcases how this Google Cloud Platform feature simplifies database user management by managing the Cloud SQL or AlloyDB IAM role or permissions for multiple accounts at once instead of having to update each user or service account individually. Curious about implementing secure, efficient database access in your own systems?
