The U.S. electricity grid is undergoing its biggest transformation in over a century. As solar and batteries scale at record pace and AI, electrification, and industrial onshoring drive energy demand to unprecedented levels, flexibility and intelligent energy orchestration are critical components of building a resilient, low-cost, and carbon-free energy system. https://lnkd.in/g6kxHgP8 At the same time, the rise of intermittent renewables and extreme weather events is increasing market volatility, making real-time optimization critical for maintaining grid stability, efficiency, and reliability. We are excited to welcome Equilibrium Energy to our portfolio—a next-generation power company building the AI orchestration platform to enable the energy transition at scale. By managing grid-scale batteries today, Equilibrium Energy provides the flexibility and reliability needed to balance supply and demand in real time. Using AI-driven forecasting, real-time market intelligence, and deep expertise in power markets, Equilibrium Energy ensures that clean energy is available at the right time, in the right place, at the lowest cost. As electricity demand surges and renewables continue to scale, Equilibrium Energy is building the digital backbone of a modern grid—one that is more resilient, flexible, efficient, and carbon-free. The future of energy isn’t just about building more capacity—it’s about managing it intelligently. Modern Hydrogen has taken a significant step forward in advancing clean energy solutions. Last week at Powergen, they announced a strategic partnership with Mesa Natural Gas Solutions to deliver clean, reliable power for data centers. By combining Mesa Solutions' expertise in multi-megawatt on-site power generation with Modern Hydrogen’s distributed technology for decarbonizing natural gas, the partnership enables data centers to access reliable, cost-effective, and scalable hydrogen power — without waiting for hydrogen infrastructure buildout or paying for costly delivery. "Dispatchable, reliable power is the backbone of data center operations, and our partnership with Mesa Solutions ensures that data centers can generate clean energy onsite without waiting for the electricity grid,” said Tony Pan. “This partnership represents the next step in adopting hydrogen for onsite energy by leveraging existing natural gas infrastructure already in the ground." Congratulations to Modern Hydrogen CEO Tony Pan and the full team on this exciting milestone. This is a significant step toward decarbonizing energy for data centers and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gFkKP5em #ClimateTech #Hydrogen #EnergyInnovation #SustainablePower #Decarbonization

Thanks Cameron McLain and Tommy Stadlen for a great event -- excellent content and company! My favorite quote was "We can't have sustainability at any cost because that is not sustainable." I won't credit the quote in respect of Chatham House Rules of the event, but it is a truism we live by at Valo Ventures. More than ever, we need entrepreneurs developing solutions that deliver undeniable ROI to their customers, with products that are better and just happen to deliver on net zero goals, too.
The climate crisis is not abating. So while the technologies used to solve it will change - we need to keep building the solutions to transform our economy. We curated the top 100 climate leaders for Giant Climate 100 with our strategic partner McKinsey & Company, inviting growth startups, corporate CEOs, and investors to expedite action. We welcomed the legendary Yet-Ming Chiang to kick off the day, co-founder of multiple climate unicorns including 24M Technologies, Form Energy and Desktop Metal, to speak about how to be a climate optimist. We welcomed Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters - a key driver of the voluntary carbon markets - to discuss financing net zero. PsiQuantum founder Jeremy O'Brien gave a passionate talk on why quantum could be the most important step change for climate and transform carbon removal. Unilever CSO Rebecca Marmot joined to talk about whether corporates still care about climate (TLDR: the best ones still do). Leah Ellis (Sublime Systems CEO), Hayden Wood (Beams CEO), Christopher K. (Palmetto CEO) discussed decarbonising real estate - from cement to solar. And Mattias Åström (evroc founder) shared why he's building a European sovereign cloud run on clean energy... The audience itself was comprised of 100+ world experts and decision makers, all funding, building and amplifying climate tech. Giant co-founders Cameron McLain, Tommy Stadlen and McKinsey partners Philipp Hillenbrand, Jose Pimenta da Gama presented the event. A great feeling of resilience and determination in the room!
