Fraud is a bigger problem than the numbers show. Underreporting remains one of the biggest obstacles to effective fraud prevention. Many cases never make it into official statistics—whether due to victim shame, inconsistent reporting standards, or gaps in fraud detection. This leaves banks, regulators, and fraud teams working with incomplete data, making it harder to stop emerging threats. How can the industry tackle this blind spot? Addressing underreporting isn’t just about collecting more data—it’s about restoring trust, improving collaboration, and strengthening fraud defenses. We take a closer look at why fraud goes unreported and what banks can do to close the gap. 🔎 Read more: https://bit.ly/3QLA3UM #FraudPrevention #FinancialCrime #Underreporting

Fraudsters don’t need to break in when they can be let in. Account takeovers and external breaches get a lot of attention, but the real threat might be coming from inside. Fraudsters are manipulating insiders to gain access, bypass controls, and execute fraud from within. In our latest episode of Behind Enemy Lines, Matt Wezeman, Fraud Response Officer at Mercantile Bank, joins Mike LaFleur to talk about the rise of insider-driven fraud and what financial institutions should be doing about it. His firsthand insights on fraud trends, the role of social engineering, and the gaps that banks need to address make this a must-listen for fraud teams. If you’re in the fight against financial crime, this one is for you. 🎧 Listen now, links in the comments! Multi-phishing is on the rise – and it’s going international! 🌎 According to insights from our Cyber Fraud Fusion Center (CFFC), fraudsters have evolved their tactics. Instead of launching attacks based on language variations in individual countries, they now deploy international multi-phishing campaigns, targeting one organization across different regions simultaneously. What is a multi-phishing campaign? A multi-phishing campaign is a large-scale, coordinated cyber attack that uses multiple channels (email, SMS, social media) to trick victims into revealing sensitive information. Unlike traditional phishing, which is often localized, these campaigns are pre-prepared to operate across multiple countries at once, making them harder to detect and stop. Key findings from our CFFC team: - Phishing campaigns are now deployed internationally, hitting multiple organization entities at once. - Attackers use pre-prepared phishing kits, making it easier to scale and execute attacks across borders. - 2 out of 3 phishing attacks are now multi-phishing campaigns. What can banks do? - Mitigate all language variations of a phishing attack. - Shift from local to global threat monitoring. - Educate employees about cross-border phishing risks. Cyber threats don’t recognize borders. The fight against phishing is now a global challenge. 🛡️

Fraudsters are getting smarter. AI is making them faster, more convincing, and harder to detect—from deepfake CEOs authorizing fake transactions to AI-generated phishing emails that mimic real executives. With generative AI, scams are more personalized, more scalable, and more difficult to spot. But AI is also our best defense. It detects patterns no human can, identifying fraudulent behaviors in real time and shutting down scams before they succeed. Real-time anomaly detection, behavioral biometrics, and shared intelligence are shifting the balance back in favor of fraud fighters. The challenge isn’t just keeping up—it’s staying ahead. Because the fraud tactics of today won’t be the same tomorrow. #FraudPrevention #FinancialCrime #AIvsFraud

Fraudsters manipulate victims via phone calls to install a Remote Access Tool (RAT), often guiding them to an investment platform to execute fraudulent transactions. ThreatMark detects behavioral anomalies and device manipulations in real-time, providing banks with instant fraud insights. The bank can then intervene to stop the attack and take further steps to ensure complete mitigation. RATs are a major threat, enabling fraudsters to bypass traditional security measures and execute sophisticated APP frauds (e.g. investment scams) undetected. With our latest update, we’ve taken our already industry-leading RAT detection capabilities to the next level, making them even more advanced and effective than ever before. ThreatMark's advanced Behavioral Intelligence Platform identifies and mitigates RAT fraud by analyzing subtle behavioral anomalies and device manipulations, offering unparalleled protection against these covert threats. Stay ahead of cybercriminals with: - Real-time detection of remote access sessions - Behavioral intelligence to spot suspicious activity - Proactive fraud prevention before damage occurs Want to learn more?
