More than a game! ⚽ From Aston Villa to Everton, so many of the football clubs we love began in churches! Today across England and beyond, churches are connecting with their communities through football - on the pitch, in holiday clubs, and even watching matches together. This World Cup, win or lose, we stand side by side. With respect. With kindness. With grace. Come together. Support each other. Join us in saying: "Come on England!" 🙌

About us
We're a Christian presence in every community. The Church of England plays a vital role in the life of the nation, proclaiming the Christian gospel in words and actions and providing services of Christian worship and praise. Our network of parishes cover the country, bringing a vital Christian dimension to the nation as well as strengthening community life in numerous urban, suburban and rural settings. Its cathedrals are centres of spirituality and service, and its network of chaplaincies across continental Europe meet important local needs. The Church of England plays an active role in national life with its members involved in a wide range of public bodies. Twenty-six bishops are members of the House of Lords and are engaged in debates about legislation and national and international affairs. The Church of England is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

This year, the Church of England Pensions Board is celebrating its 100th birthday. To mark this major milestone, we gathered at Southwark Cathedral to reflect on a century of supporting those who work and minister for the church. Alongside providing pensions, the Board also offers retirement housing for retired clergy and ethically stewards £3.5 billion worth of pension savings. It was wonderful to share the day with our dedicated staff and the members we serve. A special thank you to the Dean of Southwark for welcoming us and Archbishop Sarah for her sermon. Read more at cofe.io/PensionsCentenary.

"God has good things for you and for this city." Today is day 169 of planting a church in Stoke-on-Trent in 2026. 🌱 We're working together with All Saints Church Hanley and the Diocese of Lichfield to reopen All Saints Hanley as a place of friendship, worship and wholeness for the city of Stoke-on-Trent. The team there are recording every day of church planting to show their local community what it really means to reopen a listed building for worship.
