Knowing your target audience -- and I mean really knowing them -- is a cornerstone to any effective media strategy. Just like any relationship, understanding what matters to them, their pain points, desires, interests... this all allows you to craft messaging that doesn't just get noticed, but gets remembered. Whether it's a 15-second video or a long-form content piece, relevance to the intended audience is key. Another benefit of knowing your market is being able to choose the right media mix and platforms. Not all media channels are created equally. And knowing your target audience means understanding where they spend time, which platforms they might trust, and how they prefer to engage with brands. By knowing your market, you will know if it's wiser to choose LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, a streaming service, or all of them. Should you lean into paid search, display ads, or connected TV? The answers come from a thorough analysis of your market. Investment in ads without any audience insights is like throwing darts in the dark. This staple Thanksgiving Day television event is still bringing in the viewers. "NBC says 31.3 million viewers watched the parade on NBC and Peacock, based on preliminary Nielsen ratings and streaming figures from Adobe Analytics. That’s up 10 percent from last year’s total of 28.5 million — which was the previous all-time high. The number includes the live morning telecast and an afternoon replay on the broadcast network and streaming on Peacock. The initial broadcast, which aired from 8:30 a.m. to noon in all time zones, brought in 23.6 million viewers, more than any other entertainment (i.e., not sports or news) telecast this year — and in the past four years."
