The Phoenix Montessori Academy project team recently celebrated the topping out of the school, joined by school executives, project partners, and the developer. School executives had the chance to sign the interior beams, writing their dreams for this new space. The 38,000-square-foot building more than doubles the size of the school’s current campus, housing 18 classrooms, two toddler rooms for ages 18 months to three years old, an art room, science room, warming kitchen, and gymnasium with a full-sized basketball court to accommodate the school’s growing sports program. As a design build project, the school demonstrates Swinerton’s expertise and commitment to collaboration. Project Engineer Layla Dib and Assistant Project Manager Thomas Golden even visited students at the current campus to explain project progress and answer their excited questions.

Involving students in the construction process is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. A "beam signing" creates a lasting connection between a student's education and the school's history. Last week, Swinerton had the unique privilege of hosting the inaugural class of the Denver Public Schools Responsive Arts and STEAM Academy to "sign" the beam by adding their individual handprints on the final beam that will be placed on our middle school addition project. Each handprint serves as a reminder that these students were a part of something bigger, a tangible representation of their role in shaping the school's future. Thank you Megan Bond, MBA and Ryley Loya for capturing these photos!

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak on a panel about building a greener future through sustainable construction at Columbia University M.S. in Construction Administration. The conversation covered industry trends, the challenges and opportunities of implementing sustainable solutions, and the critical skills needed to build a career in this evolving field. At Swinerton we believe sustainability in construction is not just a responsibility but an opportunity for innovation and impact. So I loved talking with the next generation of professionals how about they can play a vital role in driving meaningful change. Thank you to Columbia University and my fellow panelists for an insightful discussion. I look forward to continuing the conversation on how we can build a more sustainable future. #columbiasps #columbiauniversity #construction #sustainability #sustainability #sustainableconstruction

Appreciation Moment: Yesterday when walking down the hall, I saw four of our senior-most business leaders in California sitting together discussing the future of our business. It hit me that in CA, where we’ve been the #1 contractor for over five years — driving more than $3 billion in revenue annually — three of those four senior leaders are women: Lori Dunn Guion, Lia Tatevosian, and Ruth Ann F.. Their expertise, grit, and vision has been an inspiration to me. They earned their seat at the table through strength and results. It makes me proud to work at Swinerton where leadership and excellence are recognized and rewarded. Cheers to an impressive group of women that I’m proud to call colleagues and friends. It’s an honor to work alongside them and many more at Swinerton. Excited for what lies ahead! #Leadership #Swinerton
