#FAMU alum Nikki Herring-Jackson, operations support manager at Southern Company Gas, says that attending Florida A&M University shaped who she is today. “It provided me with a deep understanding of myself, my heritage, and my culture,” Herring-Jackson said. “FAMU, which on the highest of seven hills in Tallahassee, FL, will always embody the strength and resilience of our community, living out the motto of ‘Excellence with Caring.’”

We value our partnership with Tennessee State University College of Engineering to support and mentor students entering the workforce. Our VP of Operations for Chattanooga Gas, Tiffany Callaway Ferrell, discusses Southern Company's pledge to HBCUs and how these funds support students through scholarships, equipment and mentorship. #TennesseeStateUniversity alum Lora Montgomery, facilities supervisor at Southern Company Gas, says attending Tennessee State was a transformative experience for her, especially as the first in her immediate family to earn a bachelor’s degree. “It provided a nurturing environment that celebrated my heritage and supported my academic and personal growth. Enjoyed being back in North Carolina last week to visit North Carolina A&T and Chancellor James Martin, Ph.D., M. ASCE. and Dean of College of Engineering Dr. Stephanie Luster-Teasley Pass.
