Next up in our VC Fellow Spotlight Series is Aaron C. Morgan (ACM), who is interning at Slauson & Co. this summer! With experience spanning non-profit, government, tech startups, corporate consulting, and small businesses, Aaron honed his expertise in strategy and operations early in his career. One year ago today, I took the leap and started Satlyt. Today, I’m proud to share that we've recently been selected for two major honors: the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration STTR grant with only 47 companies selected in America, and the Google AI Academy: American Infrastructure program, where only 17 startups were chosen nationwide. Satlyt started with a bold question: what if satellites could compute in space the same way we rely on cloud data centers on Earth? That idea became our mission: to turn satellites into a virtual cloud network, enabling faster, more secure processing and AI in orbit. A year later, Satlyt has gone from an idea to a venture-backed company building real infrastructure for the future. We’ve: - Closed a pre-seed round with support from Antler, Slauson & Co., Nairobi Business Angel Network, XSLA Ventures, and awesome angels - Built a cross-continental team across engineering, operations, and partnerships - Signed up multiple satellite operators and partners, including a collaboration agreement with the Kenya Space Agency, and an agreement with The University of Houston for our NASA STTR - Set ourselves up for space flight heritage in coming months - Shaped our first product for satellite operators to monetize idle compute - Presented our vision at Space Tech Expo USA, Smallsat Europe, various podasts and conferences, and more - Incubated at Google for Startups, addlight Inc. (SUITz Tokyo), Berkeley SkyDeck PAD-13, Antler, and Slauson & Co.'s Friends & Family - Earned recognition from wins at the Startup World Cup, the Snowflake Startup Challenge, and others Thank you to everyone who has supported Satlyt so far, from my amazing team and investors to partners and believers. The future is starting to take shape. We're just getting started.
