Had the most interesting 15 minute conversation with Jonathan Wise that Amy Williams and I are going to turn into a deeper dive on the Skellig Automation YouTube channel. It got to the crux of what I also saw as an issue with the flexibility inherent in leveraging MQTT as the core of a unified namespace strategy which was twofold: 1) No mechanism to leverage or enforce data model standards 2) Topical namespaces using ISA95 make it extremely difficult to represent complex relationships that aren't parent/child I think the solution here lies in a more widespread adoption of global standards such as those from CESMII and Allotrope Foundation but there's much more work to be done specific to Biomanufacturing. If you are a machine/instrument maker in life sciences it's important to consider connectivity standard and data model standards so that end users don't need to rely on overpriced middleware.
