  • In honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black Americans! Sade Daniels, Gamma Gamma, Indiana State University, has accepted her for who she is and not just my skin color. “Being a first generation student, I didn’t know what to expect when I came to college. Joining a sorority was the last thing on my mind. Joining Sigma Kappa has changed my life for the better, they accepted me for who I am and not just my skin color. They treat me like their sisters and I found a place where I belong. I will forever be grateful for Sigma Kappa.” #BlackHistoryMonth #SigmaKappa

  • In honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black Americans! Jayda Newsom, Lambda Zeta, University of South Florida explains how Sigma Kappa has pushed her to use her voice to educate and advocate for those who cannot themselves. “As a young, queer and multi-racial member of Sigma Kappa, I have a perspective on the world that is a powerful tool in advocating for representation and inclusion. At my university, I study History and Africana Studies. And as a future teacher, I vow to continue the rest of my life educating myself and our future leaders of the importance of Black history (American history)!!! But as a Sigma Kappa, I am so grateful for the friendships I have made over the past year and I am thankful that my sisters have pushed me to use my voice to educate and advocate for those who can not themselves. At the end of all 365 days, not just the month of February, I am proud to be a black woman. I wish you all a great Black History Month!”

  • In honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black Americans! Marisa Wilkes, Foundation Trustee and member of Theta Iota at the State University of New York at Fredonia, reflects on the significance of being the first person of color to be initiated into her chapter. "Being the first POC to be initiated into the Theta Iota chapter is a milestone not only for myself but for our chapter. Many people ask me why Sigma Kappa and my answer always is because the day I walked into my first recruitment event I know I was were I belonged. The women in the room saw me for me." #BlackHistoryMonth #SigmaKappa

  • In honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black Americans! Erykah Strickland, Gamme Eta, Ball State University, explains how Sigma Kappa has created a bond to her university, to a sisterhood and to the mystic bond. “Now as an alumnae, reflecting back on my collegiate chapter days, I see that the sisterhood of Sigma Kappa was more than just a group of humans and community service. It created a bond that forever ties to me to my university, to a sisterhood and to the mystic bond.” #SigmaKappa #BlackHistoryMonth
