  • When a patient presents with anxiety, depression, low energy, or persistent low mood, the instinct is often to go straight to psychological treatment. And that's often exactly right. But sometimes, the symptoms have a physical root — and if no one looks for it, it goes unaddressed. That's why Seven Starling's PMHNPs screen for medical contributors as a standard part of every evaluation. Conditions like thyroid dysfunction, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and anemia can cause or worsen mental health symptoms in ways that are easy to miss if you're only looking at the psychological picture. This isn't about adding complexity to a patient's care. It's about making sure the treatment plan is built on the full picture of what's driving her symptoms — so that therapy and medication, when appropriate, are working with her biology rather than around it. For all patients referred to Seven Starling, this is part of what they receive from day one. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gcqCQX6y.

  • The data on comprehensive care is clear. 90% of patients who receive individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management where appropriate achieve symptom improvement — compared to 85% with individual therapy alone. Each step up in care corresponds to better outcomes. That's not incidental — it's what happens when you treat the whole person, not just the presenting symptom. When a patient works with a PMHNP alongside her therapist, her care accounts for everything that might be contributing to how she feels — physical, psychological, and everything in between. Medication is part of that picture when it's right for her. So is her sleep, her history, and the medical contributors that therapy alone can't address. • Treating fertility patients well requires more than general mental health support. The emotional experience for women shifts across different phases of their journey, and the clinical approach needs to shift with it. At Seven Starling, care combines individual and group therapy and draws on evidence-based modalities matched to what fertility patients actually experience: CBT for rumination and cyclical distress, ACT for navigating uncertainty, compassion-focused therapy for shame and self-blame, grief-informed care for the losses that accumulate across the journey, and trauma-informed approaches for patients carrying prior loss or medical trauma. Group therapy is a core part of our model. Infertility is a relational wound as much as a medical one — and peer connection with women at a similar stage of treatment offers something individual sessions alone cannot. • We're excited to introduce Seven Starling's expanded medical program — a more comprehensive approach to care that looks at the whole person, not just the symptoms she presents with. Every patient who begins care with Seven Starling now starts with a comprehensive medical evaluation from a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) who specializes in women's mental health. That evaluation goes beyond symptom review — looking at medical history, psychiatric history, sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, and physical contributors like thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and anemia. When appropriate, the PMHNP will also prescribe psychiatric medication as part of the treatment plan. From there, the PMHNP and therapist work together to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. Comprehensive care drives better outcomes. 90% of patients who receive individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management where appropriate achieve symptom improvement — compared to 85% with individual therapy alone. • June is World Infertility Awareness Month. 40% of women navigating fertility challenges experience anxiety or depression. Most never receive mental health support alongside their medical care. For a journey this emotionally demanding, that gap is significant. At Seven Starling, we provide specialized mental health care for women navigating infertility, IVF, IUI, donor conception, surrogacy, and pregnancy loss — with care that adapts to where a patient is across every phase of treatment. The results: 90% of patients feel better, with a clinically significant reduction in PHQ-9 scores. 97% report their time with their therapist was valuable. Your patients navigating fertility challenges deserve specialized support. We'd welcome the referral. https://lnkd.in/g-WewDXA

  • Birth trauma is one of the most underidentified presentations in maternal mental health — and one of the most commonly missed. Among women with high-risk pregnancies or pre-existing mental health conditions, roughly 1 in 5 will meet criteria for PTSD. Many of them will never be screened for it. Most standard postpartum screening tools weren't designed to catch trauma. A woman who is hypervigilant, avoidant, or emotionally detached after a complicated birth or a loss can fall through every standard protocol and still get sent home without support. Seven Starling treats birth trauma, medical trauma, and complex trauma in the perinatal period — with clinicians trained to recognize what general mental health care often misses. If you're working with a patient who experienced a difficult birth or pregnancy loss, Seven Starling is here. • We're thrilled to welcome Amy Xiao to Seven Starling as our new Senior Director of Strategy & Finance. 🎉 Amy joins us with 10+ years in healthcare leadership, having helped scale category-defining companies from an early stage through hundreds of millions in revenue. Across her career she's owned finance, led 0-to-1 product launches, and operated as a strategic partner to founders and CEOs. She started her career in investment banking and led FP&A through a public offering before moving into operating roles at fast-growing healthcare startups and organizations. At Seven Starling, Amy will partner closely with the leadership team on strategy, new business expansion, and partnerships, and building out our Finance function as we scale. When we asked Amy what drew her to Seven Starling, she said: "The mission, the team, and the stage of the company — honestly, all three. I've been in health tech for a long time and absolutely love this space. I've especially gravitated toward areas where access and stigma are barriers to care, and women's mental health fits that so well — and is deeply important to me personally. I love how smart, kind, and focused this team is!" Welcome to the flock, Amy! 🕊️

  • 📣 We're excited to share the next conversation in our "Flock Together" learning series: Perinatal OCD — Recognizing & Supporting Patients Across the Reproductive Lifespan. OCD doesn't pause for pregnancy, postpartum, or perimenopause. In fact, the reproductive lifespan can be a catalyst — hormonal shifts, identity changes, and loss of control all prime the nervous system for OCD. Yet it often goes unrecognized, misunderstood, or undertreated at every stage. Join us for an expert conversation on how to identify OCD across the reproductive lifespan, understand the self-reinforcing cycle that keeps it going, and know how and when to step in as a clinician — whether that's offering low-acuity support within your existing role or making a warm referral for specialist care. When: Wednesday, June 17th Time: 9AM PDT / 12PM EST Where: Online & FREE! 👩⚕️ Our speaker: Monica Amorosi, LMHC-D, NCC, CCTP is a licensed trauma therapist and Team Lead at Seven Starling, licensed across five states. Her clinical focus on stress regulation connects closely to OCD as a common co-occurring condition. Trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and OCD-informed practice, Monica brings a rich clinical toolkit — DBT, ACT, somatics, and attachment therapy — and has been providing community education on mental health since 2018.
