This plot twist? Pure poetry. Welcome, Fable to the Scribd, Inc. family! Fable has redefined what it means to read socially, with a beautifully designed platform powering tens of thousands of book clubs led by creators, authors, and passionate readers. Their community-first vision aligns deeply with ours at Everand, home to millions of audiobooks and ebooks. Together, Fable and Everand bring the best of both worlds: vibrant connection and expansive discovery. Because we believe great stories don’t just live on the page– they spark conversation, build community, and bring people together. With both companies built by readers, for readers, we share a common belief: that books have the power to inspire, connect, and transform. Together, we’ll build a better future for reading– more meaningful, joyful, and deeply human. So welcome, Fable team. Let’s write the next chapter, together.

At Scribd Inc., we know there’s no such thing as a wrong way to read. At our May Hub Day, we invited employees to share their reading preferences with a fun Mad Libs style activity inspired by our recent brand campaign. It was a great way to celebrate the diverse ways we read– and a reminder of the value of coming together in person to connect, swap stories, and be inspired. Fantasy at midday while cooking? Romance in the evening on the couch? However you do it, it’s valid! Now tell us- how do you read every which way?

Everand’s weekend in Portland was one for the books– an incredible opportunity for our team to meet hundreds of literary locals through a range of immersive experiences. We had ads on the MAX, amazing events in Richmond and Slabtown, and interactive Book Nooks tucked away everywhere from Pioneer Square to Cathedral Park. Bringing Everand to Portland was truly a highlight! Thank you for showing us how you Read Every Which Way.

🏆 Big News: The Everand Everything Club has won The Community Management category at the 17th Annual Shorty Awards! Our team launched the Everand Everything Club (or EEC!) when Everand was only six months old, with one goal: challenge the outdated and unwritten “rules” of reading with a simple credo– Read what you want, when you want, how you want. Since then, the EEC has grown into something bigger. It’s a vibrant, joyful celebration of book lovers and the culture around reading, and a place for people to find community and connection. Thanks to the Shorty Awards jury, our Everand team, the EEC hosts, and above all, the amazing readers who make the EEC what it is. If you haven’t joined us yet, come on in. There’s something here for everyone. 📚 Learn more about our Shorty Award here: https://lnkd.in/gru65ieF

Portland, your streets are blooming with stories! Last week, our first-ever Everand brand campaign, "Read Every Which Way”, went live in Portland. Draped in the brand’s signature bright yellow, the ads represent our POV when it comes to reading: it should be done how you want, where you want, when you want. Juxtaposing various genres and reading behaviors with local landmarks, we’ve adorned this book lovers’ town with vibrant billboards, transit wraps, sidewalk art, and more! Whether you're diving into Romantasy on Hawthorne or Ghost Stories on Alberta, Everand is here to champion your reading adventures. If you’re in the PDX area, we invite you to join us May 16–18 for immersive experiences that celebrate the unique ways we all read. Stop by any of our five interactive Book Nooks popping up across the city to discover new reads and sample our app in large format. Or, join us for a citywide read-in, uniting Portlanders for a leisurely afternoon of reading, together. Both will have a few surprises in store! Scribd Inc.’s annual Talent Show is our ultimate feel good internal event– and one of the most beloved moments of the year! Together, we hit pause on our work and cheer each other on as our colleagues share the incredible, unexpected, and wildly fun talents they bring beyond their day jobs. This year, entries at our 5th annual show included dancing, singing, sketching, original songs, baking, narration, guitar, juggling, and much, much more. Congratulations to our winners– Adrienne Santamaria won Best Overall with a Chappell Roan parody, E-V-E-R-A-N-D (sung to the tune of H-O-T-T-O-G-O!). Pamela F. won Funniest with a riotous dance through San Francisco’s scenery. Adam Schnapper won Most Creative with a dazzling demo of pet portraiture. Interested in joining this talented team? This month's employee spotlight is on Sarah Scussel, Director of Product Design. Sarah joined Scribd, Inc. in 2018 as a Product Designer and has worked her way up to Director as of 2025! Through her tenure, Sarah has gained a reputation as someone who drives programs forward, one recent project being her role in helping to rebrand our UGC product in collaboration with our other teams. Sarah says her favorite thing about Scribd is the people. "Beyond the specific people I have the privilege of working with—who happen to be some of the smartest, funniest, hardest-working I’ve ever met—it’s the culture around the people that makes this place special. The kind of culture where you can show up as your weirdest self, bond over our collective love of brain-rot TV, and yell “let’s f*cking go” on stage at ScribdFest without hesitation."

“Books are more than stories – they’re culture drivers.” That was one of the key takeaways from Gemma Craven, VP of Brand Marketing and Communications at Scribd, Inc., during her presentation at Brands&Culture New York – the conference’s inaugural U.S. event which brought together a global community of brand marketers last week. Joined by agency partner Sean Benz, Gemma explored how books are shaping billion-dollar industries and fueling conversations on platforms like #BookTok, in fandoms, and across the boom in book clubs nationwide. Gemma also discussed the Everand Everything Club – a fresh take on a traditional book club, created to meet people where they are with a format that supports all readers, styles, and preferences.
