SCHUNK USA for the win! 🔥 If you were ever considering getting a zero point (self centering) vise, I highly recommend the Schunk KSC3 series. I’ll add that I’m NOT being paid or asked to advertise this product, this post is purely out of our own satisfaction as a customer. My hope is to shed some light on this product for anyone having a hard time choosing a similar product on the market. Here we go! Major Noteable Features: • High clamping force! We’ve tried some other top brand names and none of them held a candle to Schunk, especially at the price point. We’ve sold everything else and went all in on the KSC3 vises and couldn’t be more happy with them. • Ball bearing system built into the clearance free spindle that allows for zero backlash so the repeatability is outstanding. • HIGH PRECISION - From the vise body to the gripped jaws these products are ground to precision in every critical area. I’ve tested the axis repeatability of all 12 vises shown above and every one of them were within .0003” in X, Y and Z which was insane to me. • Nickel plated steel base for strength , corrosion resistance and vibration damping. • Both the vise body and the vise jaws are laser etched and numbered for visual approximate alignment. • Encapsulated spindle that prevents chips/debris from getting down into the ball bearing system. • Each “carriage” the jaws lock into are specially ground per vise body for unmatched accuracy, repeatability and slide. They allow for next to no depris to find its way into the mechanical components. • Downward drain slots that allow coolant and chips to flow freely outside the vise to help prevent chip buildup between the jaws. • Multiple jaw variants for different Workholding situations.
