Sarvam partnered with Lightspeed India for the Warpspeed Hackathon 🚀 The theme was Agentic AI. Over 24 hours, teams used the Sarvam Stack to build voice-led and multilingual AI Agents. Each idea was rooted in a real problem, focused on building something useful that could hold up in the real world. It was absolutely incredible to see teams come together, jam on ideas, and build powerful agentic apps. Thank you to Lightspeed India for making this happen!

Today we’re announcing Sarvam-Translate, an open-weights model that translates text across 22 Indian languages, with support for long-form text and the ability to handle diverse formats, contexts, and styles. Sarvam-Translate stands out for its ability to handle the complexities of real-world content. The model excels at translating web pages while preserving structure, interpreting idioms and slang, translating social media posts with emojis, and preserving syntax when translating code files. Sarvam-M achieves a new benchmark across a range of Indian languages, math, and programming tasks, for a model of its size. Sarvam is dedicated to building the bedrock of Sovereign AI for India. We see immense value in creating a Sovereign AI ecosystem in India, not to decouple from the world but to ensure strategic autonomy in building foundational components tailored to India's unique needs. We are truly grateful for the support from MeitY's IndiaAI Mission to build India's sovereign Large Language Model. Sovereign AI is a nationwide, collective effort. The models we train as part of the IndiaAI Mission will be open-sourced under permissible licenses. We plan to release weekly drops featuring new models, findings, and insights. We hope these serve as building blocks for India's developer and builder ecosystem. The first drop is coming soon! To truly lead, India should not just be a consumer or adopter, but an active participant in building and shaping the narrative of this technology.
