Tag teamed with my buddy Aashay Sachdeva to represent Sarvam at the first meetup of the India chapter of The AI Alliance. The AI Alliance was established by IBM and Meta last year, to promote responsible AI as we make strides with GenAI models, and bring together various players in the AI ecosystem to foster the development and adoption of Open Source AI. Sarvam is among the 7 new members from India who have been added to the AI Alliance to represent Indian model builders and contributors. Sarvam has released 2 open source models - Sarvam 1 which is a 2B text-to-text foundational model and Shuka v1, which is a voice-to-text Audio LM. Both models are delivering SOTA performance on 10 Indian languages, and we have also open-sourced the evaluation data set and architecture behind these models. Excited to drive initiatives for promoting open source models, new dataset creation and applications for the public sector via the AI Alliance, and ensuring that India has a stronger role in this global consortium! Sarvam is honored to have participated in India’s Data Forum 2024. Pratyush Kumar, our co-founder, spoke about utilizing unstructured data at national scale and demonstrated Sarvam’s capabilities in a panel chaired by Shri Saurabh Garg, Secretary MosPI and Chief Statistician of India. Aalekh Sharan from our team also participated in discussions at the two day summit. Inaugurated by Sh. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon'ble Deputy CM, Odisha, the forum saw participation from key dignitaries, including Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member NITI Aayog, Mr. Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator, Saurabh Garg, Secretary MosPI, Ms. Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-ACS, Govt of Odisha, Mr. Manoj Ahuja, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha and Ms. Anna Roy, Principal Economic Advisor, NITI Aayog. The audience comprised of dignitaries from the national state governments working on e-governance and data.
