🚨 🇺🇸 - 🇷🇸 Gazprom Neft 🇷🇺 cuts stake in Serbia’s NIS as U.S. sanctions loom The U.S. imposed sanctions against two Russian oil companies, Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas , as well as their subsidiaries, on January 10. - Gazprom Neft has transferred 5.15% of the shares in the Serbian company NIS to Gazprom , the Belgrade Stock Exchange said. - Gazprom Neft previously owned 50% of NIS and Gazprom owned 6.15%. Gazprom Neft currently owns 44.85% of NIS' shares and Gazprom owns 11.3%.

🚨 🇺🇸 - 🇮🇳 U.S. Sanctions 4 Indian companies over alleged involvement in 🇮🇷 Iran’s oil trade 🙅🏼 As of February 26, 2025, OFAC designated 87 persons and entities (72), which are located in India: https://lnkd.in/eym2qbF ❓🇺🇸 Why did the U.S. impose sanctions? 🇮🇷 🚫 🛢️The U.S. imposed sanctions to curb Iran’s oil trade, which allegedly funds destabilizing activities, including its nuclear program, ballistic missile development, and support for terrorist groups. The sanctions are part of the "maximum pressure campaign" aimed at limiting Iran’s ability to generate revenue through illicit energy exports. ❓🇮🇳 Who is targeted by the sanctions? The sanctions target four India-based shipping companies: 1. Flux Maritime LLP 2. BSM Marine LLP 3. Austinship Management Pvt Ltd, and 4. Cosmos Lines Inc - for their alleged role in transporting Iranian crude oil and petroleum products. 🚫 ⛔ 🛢️ The measures also extend to oil brokers in the 🇦🇪 UAE and 🇭🇰 Hong Kong, as well as Iranian oil entities and their shipping networks. ❓🚫 What is prohibited by the new sanctions? The sanctions prohibit U.S. entities from engaging in transactions with the listed Indian companies and other sanctioned entities. These measures also block access to the U.S. financial system and freeze any U.S.-linked assets of the sanctioned firms. 🧭 What does it mean for compliance officers? 1. Compliance officers must ensure their organizations do not engage with the sanctioned Indian firms or the broader network of entities facilitating Iran’s oil trade. 2. Companies involved in shipping, trade, or finance should enhance due diligence, update screening lists, and monitor regulatory updates to avoid inadvertent sanctions violations. 🚨 🇺🇸 - 🇹🇭 More Thai firms turning up on U.S. sanctions list for trade with 🇷🇺 Russia 🙅🏼 As of February 26, 2025, OFAC designated 67 persons (26) and entities (41), which are located in India: https://lnkd.in/eym2qbF The U.S. has imposed sanctions on 7 companies in Thailand for exporting “high priority items” to Russia. ❓⛔ Who is targeted by the U.S. sanctions? - The sanctions target 7 Thailand-based companies accused of supplying Russia with restricted technology and equipment. - Notably, firms like NAL Solutions, Intracorp, and Siam Expert Trading have been implicated. Some of these companies are linked to larger networks, such as the TGR Group, which is accused of facilitating sanctions circumvention on behalf of Russian elites. ❓🚫 What is prohibited by the new sanctions? - The sanctions prohibit U.S. entities from conducting business with the listed Thai firms. This includes selling, exporting, or providing financial services to them. 🚨 🇪🇺 vs 🇷🇼 No Sanctions Against Rwanda yet! The EU agreed to suspend defence cooperation with Rwanda on Monday (24 February) - but shied away from further sanctions against the east African state following the recent escalation of its invasion of neighbouring DR Congo.

🚨 🇺🇸 vs 🇮🇷 U.S. Imposes Additional Sanctions on Iran’s Shadow Fleet 🇮🇷 🛢️ The U.S. imposed sanctions to disrupt Iran’s oil supply chain, which finances its destabilizing activities, including support for militant groups like the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF). The sanctions are part of the U.S. government’s "maximum pressure campaign" aimed at reducing Iran’s oil exports to zero and curbing its ability to fund regional destabilization. ❓ Who is targeted by the sanctions? The sanctions target over 30 individuals, entities, and vessels involved in brokering, transporting, or managing Iranian oil exports. Key targets include: 🙅🏼 Individuals: Hamid Bovard (CEO of Iran’s National Iranian Oil Company), Abbass Asadrouz (manager of Iranian Oil Terminals Company), and other senior officials. 🛢️ Entities: Oil brokers in the UAE and Hong Kong, tanker operators in India and China, and subsidiaries of Iran’s National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). 🚢 Vessels: Multiple tankers involved in transporting Iranian oil, including the CASINOVA, URGANE I, and LYDIA II. ❓ What is prohibited by the new sanctions? The sanctions prohibit: - All transactions involving the property or interests of designated individuals, entities, and vessels. - Any dealings by U.S. persons or within the U.S. with the sanctioned parties. - Ship-to-ship transfers and other methods used to obscure the origin of Iranian oil. ❓ What does it mean for compliance officers? 🧭 Compliance officers must: 1.
