Australia approved a social media ban for children under 16 late on Thursday after an emotive debate that has gripped the nation. The law forces tech giants from Instagram and Facebook owner Meta Platforms  to TikTok to stop minors from logging in or face fines of up to A$49.5 million ($32 million).  Australians reacted on Friday with a mixture of anger and relief to the social media ban that the government says is world-leading, but which tech giants like TikTok argue could push young people to "darker corners of the internet".

Twenty-eight-year old Amy Webb, too, was in line to get her hands on the Eras Tour book. Macy's is handing out $10 gift cards for their first 100 in-shoppers. It’s all in an effort to get more feet into physical stores this holiday season as shoppers and retailers grapple with less days between Thanksgiving and Christmas compared to last year. Canada's Competition Bureau is suing Google over alleged anti-competitive conduct in online advertising. The bureau said it had filed an application with the Competition Tribunal seeking an order that, among other things, requires Google to sell two of its ad tech tools.
